She did it!!!!

I know a lot of you have already experienced this milestone, but it sure does feel good. Not that it has always been easy, but I would not have it any other way...

I hit that mark about two years ago, but it's still definitely a huge milestone. Congrats!

I think at the rate I am going, I will hit 200k in about 22 years.

Congratulations. Just keep care of it and you might be able to double that.

I hit 249k and blew my tranny three time. These engines are great engines and don't have major issues like head gaskets or weak rods. Nissan did a number on their engines and the VG/VE/VQ series proves it over and over again. I redlined my VG soo many times it should have sent a crankshaft to my leg. But instead the tranny blew. Take car of her and don't go cheap on maintence and you'll have nothing to worry about.

Noob here looking at a 91 with 228,000.......seems clean, timing chain just replaced according to the owner.
I am new to the Maxima, what pitfalls do I need to look for in this vehicle?

first things first on your 91... it has a timing belt, not a chain.

welcome to the .org.. take a quick read through the stickies in this forum for the major stuff you're prone to running into on the cars. If it's a sticky, then it's common enough to be there.

200K in a Maxima? That's what you are all excited about? I think that is pretty easy if you take care of it.

I thought you were excited because you got your wife to fill the tank.
Now THAT would be something.

Alright, bought the 91 SE. Runs strong but the body needs some TLC. Question, where can I get a diagram of the components under the hood. Something is leaking a dark fluid that has no smell, not tranny fluid, not brake or steering. Seems like crankcase emissions but I cannot fibnd the source and I am not familiar with these at all. I got used to working on my 90 bronco so i am lost under this hood.

None of the labeled components. Lots of moisture from power steering reservoir forward.

Sorry for jacking...can't post yet but really need help and it is hard to offer 15 replies when i am so new to the maxima.

Clean up the area where the leak is with a can of degreaser and a water hose...Then tighten up all the p/s hose clamps in the area, look them over carefully for splits/holes...Also check the bottom crank pulley for a oil leak...

I have a 89 SE max and she still runs great and has lots of power but a transmission that might be starting to show her age (cross my fingers) Still shifts fine now though!!

Tranny works fine....until it warms up...then it does not like to go into 1st or third....fun stuff on stop light on a hill!!!!!

Tomorrow I get to spend the better part of a day getting in an exhaust from the cat back. Here's hoping my hangers are still there.
