Paint/Bodywork prices

I'm thinking about going ahead and buying the stillen kit and getting the whole car fixed and repainted. I'm wondering how much it should cost. It has some rust that needs to be fixed, maybe 4 spots with small surface rust and 1 spot on the driver rear door that has a nickel sized hole in it at the bottom. To fix all of this, the random dings, and get a excellent quality paint job, how much do you think I should be paying? I would like to keep it as close to 3k or under as I can, but I have no clue what it costs. And would it save me a lot of money to sand off the surface rust/fiberglass over that hole/bondo myself?

I hope you don't get ripped off. I wouild imagine for that much... They would mount the kit, do all minor body repairs, use good paint, couple clears, look gorgeous, and last.

$2000 from a pro shop (not Maaco) is reasonable and fairly average.

If you find a shop cheaper than this.......

They are gonna do CHEAP work. I have been in the autobody/paint business for 20+ years and can tell you from experience you get what you pay for. That doesn't mean all expensive shops do good work though, but the good ones are always expensive and worth it. Get a place that has a paint warranty such as a PPG or Dupont shop, because if you have any problems with the paint, you can get it fixed anywhere that is a PPG or Dupont Certified shop.

That's my two cents anyway.

I paid 4k about 3 years ago and it was in pretty good shape with no rust and not do many dings or dents. But then again I live in new york where everything is expensive, best idea is to see their previous work, in person not in pictures, or find someone with a custom car in your area and find out where they went etc...
