just the trans? Or the whole motor and trans swap?

I know some have put the VE5 trans in VGs (auto and 5spd).

no one I know of. i know vans tried to put a VE in his car but gave up.

It can be done if you get all the wiring, ECU etc. Its not worth it though. Its better to either turbo the VG or sell it and buy a VE5.

Since the value on a GXE and an SE are similar, it is much easier to sell your GXE AT and search hard to find a VE 5-speed. Actually, ATs book for more than a 5-speed.

VE 5-speeds aren't that hard to find, you just have to be willing to be patient or travel. A lot of guys on this board have gone hundreds of miles to pick up a quality car. That rings true for almost anyone looking for specific cars. A friend of mine is into German cars and he flew to Southern California last month to buy a BMW e36 323ic convertible. There aren't many of them here and they are much more expensive.

he's referring to me, i did a ve5 trans swap onto a vg motor. i have not swapped engines to a ve though, i agree with these guys that it would be more economical to buy a ve car first. don't worry about the trans at first because it will be much easier to swap to a 5spd than it will to swap a vg to ve

i was thinkin' about doin' this about 3-4 years ago and what these will or have told u is true. i have researched in doin' this project and in the end its useless and a waste. all i have done is just a 5-spd swap but from another VG though im still lookin' for a VE tranny. think about it for one moment, u have to gather alot of parts to do the VG to VE swap. engine, tranny, harness, ecu, mounts, brackets, crossmember, VE suspension (not really), the fuse box and sensors in the engine bay, fuel pump, axles, exhaust, and other misc. parts. the amount that u might spend on all this is pretty much the same on just buyin' a VE 5. now like it has been said before u can patient and find one or blow ur money into a useless project thats only gonna gain u 30 extra horses which u can do that easily to a VG with simple mods and kick ur self in the head later on for doin' the VE swap. this is y i stopped thinkin' about doin' this swap. im not tryin' to crush ur dreams or anything but if ur willin' to do this swap go right ahead and do it. remember its ur car and ur money, we r just here to lend a hand and give advice thats all. if u get it to work then u'll be the first to have a workin' VE in a VG max just like another org member on here thats the first to have an '01 AE VQ30DE-K in his 3rd gen properly swapped in. well he's actually the 2nd but the first to have it done right makin' 225 or more to the wheels if i remember correctly.
