Clutch question?

Hey guys, I’m fairly new on the org, I have a 92 Maxima purchased recently from Maxtuned that came preinstalled with a slipping clutch.

The symptoms:
Day to day driving there is nothing noticeable. Floor the gas anywhere in the rpm range and nothing, but as soon as the turbo spools the RPMs jump 2k higher then they should be. At first I thought it was the tires spinning and nothing more, but now it is quite clear that is not the case. I don’t have too much experience with cars but I believe my clutch is going bad. I also didn’t notice this nearly as much until I put on my Eagle F1’s with 17lbs rims which seem to grip better then the tires that came on the car.

The car:
The car is a 92 VE30DE 5 spd with a turbo upgrade sending about 10 pounds to the intake with the Stock EUC, 300ZX MAF, upgraded injectors, and the Fidanza flywheel.
The current clutch is a Spec stage 2 clutch.

Looking for opinions:
1.)
I’m looking to replace this with one that can handle the claimed output (of 276HP) and not be too harsh. Some harshness is fine, but I don’t want to be revving my engine to 2000 RPM every 30 seconds on our crappy bypass road as I move 3 feet (east new circle road for anyone that cares) just to keep the car from shaking violently.

2.)
Can I get away with just replacing the clutch disk, or do I need to purchase a clutch kit. I have heard many point of views on this, and I guess I wanted to get some Maxima drivers input as well.

3.)
I semi expect that this thread may turn into an informal poll of what clutches people use. That’s fine, as I want to know what most of the higher output Maxima drivers are using to get that power down to the ground.

4.)
I did a fast search and found this clutch

Or the Clutch kit:

I have bought my springs from them before and they came as described.

More information can be supplied upon request. Thanks guys…

This is a good time to include my budget limits.
Looking for a good clutch under 400 bucks please.

Also, what would be an accurate estimate to have this thing installed by a tranny shop, not the stealership.

Stage 2 maybe?

Installation charges are going to be VERY expensive by a shop....Ballpark,around $300-$500

Yeah I was afraid of that, but I honestly don't think I could do this install without breaking my car further.

Guess I better start saving. I hope I can pay off this car some day lol.

I don't think you need to go to a stage 3 with <300 ft lbs of torque at the wheels.

Personally, I am very happy with my ACT. If I were you, I would get the ACT kit in the group deal for $369 (Part #NM1-HDSS).

I would also recommend you buy the kit and replace the entire thing -- disc, pp and TO bearing, since you can't be 100 percent on the stuff you have in there now.
