Hi i need help

Is there a search function on this forum? I can't find one.

Oh yes. well

1. I want to start using the keyless entry function on the max, where can I find the code?

2. Why is the hood paint the first to go?

3. How big is the max tank? I get about 100 miles per half tank.

4. I don't need to use my windows, but one is stuck partially up, one is loose and goes anywhere from half down up to almost up, til I secure it.

that's it.

Beet me to the punch... or correction i should say!

Also if your only getting 100miles per 1/2 tank your gauge maybe be off don't rely on that fill your tank reset trip counter drive it to half or E and than fill and see how many gallons you used and miles driven that will let you know if you are only getting 100 miles per half which would be 10.526 mpg and that is HORRIBLE i get a average of about 21-22 mpg in the city and about 30 mpg on the freeway and i have a horrible exhaust leak at the rear bank of my exhaust manifold

finding code for keyless entry

Well, even though I think you should be donating to the org so you can search for stuff on your own, here's the write up done awhile ago to reset the door code. Hope it helps!

Actually, dividing by 14 gallons should give you better gas milage than the actual because it would imply that you are using less fuel to run the same distance... so your horrible gas milage is REALLY REALLY horrible.

I just need some advice!

I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima. I went to NTB and had them run test on my car and they informed me that I need new rotors, calibers and brake pads on the rear and break pads on the front. To be cost efficent where would it be best to get those parts with decent quality. Also I looked at the car history of the seller and I never seen anything about struts and shocks being changed. This car has 190,205 miles on it. Im not sure but how long do the original's last before they need changing. Also I need new tires and alignment. I was thinking of going on Ebay. I have 15 inches on my car tires. With a friend I will do the work if its a way to be done without paying nissan big bills to do it also. I am just asking for some advice from some TRUE MAXIMA ENTHUSIAST!!! I will be awaiting you imput.

Welcome to the org.

Read through the stickies at the top of the page for most of your answers.

If you look in the stickies up top you will see the answers you are looking for. Also, a good source for parts is http://internetautomart.com (he's an orger too). Did they tell you what was wrong with your calipers?

Im sorry I glanced over the post and didn't see bare answers to my questions. I just want some good advice i saw some good tires on tire rack .com but I was mainly worried about spending alot on the calibers, rotors and brake pads, and also inquiring about the shocks and springs.

1. I'm positive you need struts. anything over 50k on the OE and they are due for replacement .
2. big chain shops tend to want to replace the calipers/ Pads / rotors all at once.

jack up your car and see how easily the wheels turn when you are in neutral and when you have the brakes applied. if they are stiff all the time then that wheel MAY need a caliper. or a caliper lube.
my front calipers were stiff on max before I went to do the brakes so I bought calipers, once we took the calipers off to do the pads the calipers loosened up, so they are working again.

I do thank you for your assistance with the advice. I think I will have a friend that knows alot about cars to give a good look at the brakes, rotors and calibers. I will see whether I will have to do it all or just a part of it. I will let him be the boss of it because I am still learning about cars and trying to get the feel down. Yea me and a friend changed his stuts and shocks on his 97' M3. It was work but I was able to see the big dif between a good stut and a bad stut. I now know I have to get that fixed very soon but first things first I have to get my brakes where they need to be. That lag stop coming off of 80 mph is not cool I need that immediate stop. I looked on Tirerack and found good tires so I will order those but yea I will have a friend look at my brakes. I was having a prob with the Temp gauge. It is haywire. I know my engine is not getting hot but it seems like that gauge goes from Hot to Cold to Hot again. Do anyone know if this is a big problem or a lil problem.

Yeah it sucks, but I'm glad they have it setup like this. It (usually) forces you to look through all the stickies and to learn how to use google to search through the forums until you have a chance to donate of course. Besides for a forum that is this good, and free for the most part, I'm sure most of us would put up with a lot more.

Besides you can always post in other sections, just run through the nissan/maxima news sections, or tell some of the orgers how nice their ride is, before you know it you will have your post built up.
