Can Anyone help???

My passenger side floor is wet and i know that i didn't leave the windows down. i looked under the car and i didn't see anything. i think that it may be my heater core. What do you all think??? And if it is my heater core about how much do you think it will cost???

Did it recently rain???? My passenger side floorboard will sometimes get a little wet when it rains really hard...Just a few drops though...

Does the liquid smell like coolant??? If it does, then yes it is most likely the heater core....It is a MAJOR pain in the @ss to get to,you have to take the whole dash apart to access the core...

Here are some pics from Matt93se on what is involved in accessing the h/c

Probably more then the car is worth...Being you live in the deep south[warm climate] i would just bypass it....If you can't afford to fix it..

it still gets cold here though...well cold enough that you need heat during a couple of months.

chay2263 the heater core from Autozone is 354.99 but from a discount dealer (nissanparts.cc) its only $134. here is the link.

After I get caught up on stuff this week I will be glad to do the swap for you for a decent amount less than a shop would charge. you can shoot me an email and we can talk. You arent too far from me.

you should try and find the leak asap, b/c if it is the heater core, the coolant can leak into the ecu DIRECTLY below the core. if that happens you will be stranded and replacing your ecu as well as the core.

Have you been running the air conditioning? If the water condensate outflow is plugged, the water will leak out onto the passenger side carpet. If it doesn't smell like coolant, it could be this. The condensate drain is on the passenger side firewall, above and behind the steering rack.

When does it drip? When there's been much rain or when it's been dry, but you've used your air conditioning? The air conditioning box is located behind the glove box. You could remove the glove box and remove the oval plate that has the blower resistors in it (don't damage resistors) and stick a light on a stick in there to see if it's full of water. If you do have antifreeze in the coolant, but don't smell or feel it (slippery) in this liquid, then it's got to be a rain leak or ac plugged outlet.

The liquid is kind of slippery. Not oily slippery but just a little slippery.

Does it smell sweet or musty (like an old dish rag). Musty=condensate, Sweet=antifreeze

Sounds like a heater core to me. Call me experienced. If you turn the heater on full blast and select the windscreen vents, does your windshield fog up? If it does, it's definately your heater core.

Oh, make sure the car has plenty of coolant/water in it before you try that and you may want to get your engine up to operating temp first. Otherwise you tend to get false negatives.

On the sentra I had this happen to (yeah, the '89 Aztec Red one with the hatchback rallye body) i overheated it so many times trying to drive from Traverse City, MI to South Bend, IN that I warped the head enough to create a visible gap between the head and the block. By the time I got home that thing would spit engine oil so violently it would end up on the front bumper with the hood closed. It didn't help that it jumped time somewhere along the way too. But that little beast made it home. To this day, I have no idea how.
