My 92 Maxima GXE heater control lever won't go lower than the mid point, moves only from mid point to hot. The result is the A/C cannot cool. I pulled the facia panel and radio, there appears to be no problem on that end of the cable. Has anyone had problem and want was cost to resolve? My dealer wants 2 hours labor to give estimate due to needing to pull panels.

On the front passenger side, look right above the ECU and see where the cable is binding. I think the color of the cable is light blue. After you take the kink out, your slider should move freely.

So, yours is kinda the opposite of what I'm having. I'd just cruise a 'u-pull-it' junk yard, and ****** one of those *****. Otherwise, your best bet is buying the **** from Nissan. I don't think it's too hard to install it, though. I thought they were held on by friction....

i've called or gone to all the junk yards that i know of. they will get a maxima in, the next day someone will come and buy the whole car. they dont have anything for any maximas or altimas. IIRC someone said there was a website for some junk yard that you could send them a list of what you needed and they would tell you how much it would be. i could be thinking of something else. also, is it easy to take the temp control panel thingy off? i took the dash trim to get to the radio off and i saw a few screws around it, just wondering.
thanks

Temp control panel wasn't too hard to take off. I believe there are only 4 screws, and the panel will come out. But don't pull too hard, because everything will still be connected behind it. Now, I may be wrong, because I haven't taken my panel off since winter time. But I'll let you know about it today, though....

Window regulators are a shade under $60, shipped from Courtesy Nissan. You can find the link under the "links" section.

Not too sure about your other two questions. I could speculate about the speedo thing, but I don't wanna look like a total

I just went through the same problem. My girlfriend's 92 SE exhibited the same symptoms. I went to a junkyard and pulled a new one. They wanted 40 dollars, but I declined. I went and pulled hers apart and realized I oculd move the lever from BEHIND the unit. The solution to the problem was greasing the lever in the front of the unit. I actually used Neosporin, as I didn't have grease! I know it sounds odd, but a lack of grease makes this **** very sticky. It had NOTHING to do with the cable binding up. Try the easy fix too.

If you have to pull the unit, it's not hard. It's recessed behind the dash. tilt it sideways and bring it out. Get your head underneath and manipulate the lever- I bet it works. If it does, your answer is to grease the front side of the climate control unit.

Before making this discovery, I put so much force into moving the lever that I snapped the **** off. Luckily, it's made to snap off and it clicked back in.

Let me know how it works.
