VE5 tranny on a VG auto
Can a VE5 or a VG5 tranny fit on a VG auto? I'm planning to change to a 5 speed soon. My tranny is making knocking noises when i change from reverse to drive and vice versa. Is it a shifter bushing problem?

well yeah but if your info is correct you have a VE. If you do indeed have a 92SE then you have a VE. I wouldnt put a VG 5 in there though...go ahead with the VE5 speed because its VLSD and I think a little beefier.

thanks for the info, but I was wondering if a ve5 tranny can fit a vg engine or do i have to get a vg5 tranny for a vg engine. i'm pretty sure its a vg5 tranny for a vg engine, but I just wanna be sure.

and I answered your question. You asked "Can a VE5 or a VG5 tranny fit on a VG auto?"
To which I replied "well yeah..."
meaning yes a VE5 (as well as a VG5) trans will fit the VG motor.
but I am still confused...do you have a 92SE? Or do you have another car you are asking this question about...or just asking in general?

yes, you can put a VE 5-speed in your car, but along with the normal 5-speed swap stuff (hydraulic system and pedals) you need to get different axles along with the VE transmission because they are larger.

I needed to toss in a question here. I swapped an Auto out of my 90 maxima and put in a speed. I am working out the electrical bugs. I can not seem to get the position sensor in the manual to give me any indication of a reading ( continuity or resistance change ) when I put it in neutral or reverese so the car will have backup lights and make the clutch interupter work. If this position sensor is bad where can I get one?

as stated you will need the axles and hubs or you can take the axle of the VE and put the VG ends on it if you cant find hubs. I believe someone has done that.
Nmax92---gotcha...your profile confused me...all clear now. Like I said earlier I would go for the VE5 because its VLSD and is a little beefier. If you cant find one then the VG5 will work.
