Anyone with JWT ECU?

I purchased this ecu... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT . Any JWT ecu that I've seen actually says Jim Wolf Technology on it, before the mod list. It has been chipped and socketed, but I don't think that JWT has actually done the work to this one. I need to be able to send one in to be reprogrammed for 100. Can anyone with experience help out? Thanks

you already bought it, but you're not sure if it's legit or not?

It looks like one to me, but I'm not 100%. they usually put a label on the top of the ECU, and IIRC it looks like the white one that's on there. but it's been a year or so since I've looked at mine.

If it's for your VG, it will work the same or similar to JWT, but it's done by the guy you bought it from, not actually JWT.

I believe it's legit (as in it works), but I don't think it is a genuine JWT. I believe he builds them himself. I am not sure why he mentions JWT. I suppose it's a keyword to help bring in potential bidders. He has sold a lot of ECUs for VG engines. Mostly 300zx I think. He has (or had) a VG Maxima that ran 12s. IIRC, his s/n is HakkenTT or something similar.

You should email him and ask if he will reprogram it for you. He does seem to know his stuff. I had asked him several years ago if he would reprogram a VE ECU and he said they were different and he couldn't do it. I can't remember the reason why.

Yeah, it looked legit in the pics and such, but once I took a closer look in person, I noticed that it was not like the other JWTs that I've seen.

Cliff-Thanks for the info, I'll hit him up. My reprogram will be kind of tedious, so I hope he does know his stuff.

lol, i bought one. just save your money. its not much faster than the one in your car.

as you can see, im the only one to give him a bad rating, of which he decided to give me a bad rating back. the only two bad ratings i have are from him and the douchebag that shillbidded me to a price i didnt want to pay for his stupid e36s. after he shillbidded me, i got the ****ing headlights and they were missing a bulb. so THEN i went out and had to buy matching bulbs. i gave him a bad rating and etc. long story.

but theres not much of a power boost if any. might be all inside my head. youll notice that it does eat a bit more gas, though. youll lose a couple mpg. at least i did...and i have all of the upgrades that he says work best with the ecu...and i use 93 octane. so...not worth the $100. better off saving it up for a 3.5 liter...

My purpose was to buy an ecu that could be reprogrammed for 100, according to my injector size, engine, and other minor bolt-ons. I guess I'll just ask for a refund and then do my paypal magic if he tries to screw me.

JWT's aren't really worth what you pay for them anyway. My friend has one for his VE and you only notice a bit more low end and you get a raised rev limiter. Also it seems like there's no knock map on it. His knock sensor works fine and the motor still pings all the time. You don't get much for your money. Greddy Emanage sounds like the way to go.

I personaly would keep it. While its clearly not a JWT socketed ECU, its still socketed and that means you can use a Romulator, and program it yourself.

They are if you plan on going to 550cc injectors, z32 maf, and a gt35r in the distant future and 270s, z32, and vg33 now...I will still have an safc-II hooked up in case the tune is a little off. The seller told me that he will make another program for me, so hopefully he can get me close...

Like I said, he knows his stuff. If you work with him, I imagine he can do a lot of the same upgrades that JWT can do. He sucessfully programmed his own VG turbo Maxima to some impressive numbers.

I am not sure the kind of gains most of you are looking for from a JWT ECU in a 160 hp engine. They aren't going to be huge. A 5 percent increase is only 8 hp, which seems reasonable. I am sure if you took it to a track it would net you maybe a tenth or two. Even in a VE, you just can't squeeze that much more out of it with just a reprogram and most everything else stock.

It's 170hp and 200lbs to work with; if I can lean it out and get and extra 7 or so, it will be worth it.

here is a link to the guy's thread. I believe it's the same guy selling the ECU:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=384919

another thread about his ECUs:

Also, he was selling 2nd gen ECUs.

no raised rev limiter here and i actually own one of his...only thing that does that is switching to the 145 mph gauges (from 6k to 6.5k).
