Had the tic-tic-tic noise for a month or so. Finally got the cash to get the mechanic to fix it... he tells me the manifold is pooched. It's so warped that he can't even get it on again. (also, broken stud behind the a/c unit).

Any idea where I can find a good front exhaust manifold near Vancouver? Nissan wants vital body parts for one (and they say it's in Montreal or further east).

Yeah - just took a look. Nothing nearby Vancouver. This is the family daily driver, so if I can't track down a manifold in the next 24 hours, then Nissan gets my $$.

find a part store that sells ATP.
ATP makes the manifold.

Tic-tic-tic noise? Does it sound like a very slight spark knock upon acceleration? Cause my car has been doing that for a while....

My Maxima has making noises from somewhere in the exhaust. I was told, the flex pipe (although, it's noisy at the front, too). There were holes there. I found an ad for a brand new cat-back factory exhaust (brand new) for cheap. I was going to call tomorrow to see if it's still for sale. Would that help solve the exhaust problem? So far, it's been patched up with some clay-like exhaust glue.

No, the tic-tic-tic was more like an old pickit-me-up-truck sound. And, indeed, the exhaust manifold was pooched...

If you have holes anywhere in your exhaust system, you will get noise (and, potentially, not able to pass an idle emissions test). AND, if you have holes in your exhaust system, get them fixed NOW - don't need anyone to get CO poisoning.

<--- drove open headers for a month straight (LONG story); not good on an engine (began to shake violently at idle from carbon buildup...changed oil and it ran find again...?...). nissans are one of the TOUCHIEST cars when it comes to sensors.

i learned, the hard way, that the exhaust system is a VERY important part of a car that gets overlooked (because of o2 sensors working incorrectly and lack of back pressure).
