Opinions needed

My next project is going to be struts/shocks. I'm looking to put on performance springs as well, I want eibach's, but they are so expensive. So what I need an opinion on, what is the best strut/shock for the money? As well as springs (Looking to drop around 2", but not right at 2"). Also, my maxima is a daily driver, so I definately need something that is going to last.

Thanks for the opinions.

i would go with the intrax/kyb or intrax/tokico setup. eibachs only have a 1.25" drop. both intrax and sprints i believe have either a 1.75" or 2" drop. go on ebay and just search for the best deals. i may be wrong on drop specs so don't quote me on that.

Try www.shox.com They have some decent prices on most of the setups. As for shocks, go with Koni if you want something that will last. Both Tockicos and KYB have been known to blow seals when used with lowering springs.

Go Intrax and Koni.
it'll get you the drop you want with a nice progressive rate and the Konis are adjustable so you can tune them to your tastes.

I know you keep saying you have 2" springs but your car is not very low. you look like you have Eibach springs IMO from the drop in the pics. Let us know what color the springs are and maybe we can tell you what they are. If you want to see low look at my old car with Intrax (only rated at 1.75):

as you can see the tires are actually up in the fender well slightly. You cant stick a finger straight into the wheel well because you will hit tire.

Maybe it is lower but with a larger sized tire? That would be the only other thing I could think of to make it higher. But, if it was a larger tire size, it would be up under the fender as well. Hell I'm lost.

you can see the top of his tire in relationship to the fender well. I am sure since the guy didnt remember what kind of springs he put on he just told him it was a 2" drop.

Well if you want to adjust it a little... you could always go with a coilover setup. A 02+ Sentra SE-R Spec V setup will FIT on our cars. Though alignment has not been verified.

all you need to know was in the first reply; KYB or TOKICO; very good and affordable. surprisingly, my shocks are actually very good on my car. yes, too bad that the eibachs are so much because everyone i know that has them love them. may be worth saving up for?

This was verified by an org member who helped a friend install a set on his Sentra. After comparing HIS Maxima struts assembly, with the coilover setup for the Sentra, the attempt at installation was made. The coilover did fit into the Maxima, and a test drive was done.

BUT, alignment issues were never noticed, nor verified for accuracy.

The thread is too old for me to find normally, a search would have to be done for it, and I do not have that capability. The thread was done in THIS section of the forum though.

edit, I have a feeling I will now take a breif vacation for dragging this idea up again.

I'm beating my head against the table right now trying to remember who the member was. All I remember was the person had the largest drop you could get, because he noted that the coilover only lowered around 2".

If you noticed I was posting right along. It all came down to the fact of possible alignment issues. And Matt likes to argue almost anything, and usually doesn't stop till he thinks he's had his way.

I was thinking about doing it myself, but the price became the issue. Why bother with a coilover setup, when I could get a Eibach/Koni setup for half. Now if I won the lottery, then I wouldn't hesitate getting a set of Teins.

i see only dirty springs on my maxima lolz and the ride is very good and smooth so maybe the guy was wrong and it does have the Eibach which in my case is a great thing for me as its low enough already and plus adding the bodykit later will be actually lower then i need it as the speed bumps in my neighberhood are terrible i cant even go over them more them 5 miles per hour and not bottom out on them damn speed bumps cuz once i roll over them the car drops down and if its enough it will hit the bottom usually my catilitic convert is the one hitting crap

What do you reccomend for a daily driver for tuning of koni's?
I believe you can get 5 half turns from fully soft to full firm. I just got some koni's and was debating on how to adjust them. Not sure if I should adjust the front ones firmer than the back ones due to more weight. How many turns from full soft do you think? I was thinking 3/4 turn from full soft would give good performance while maintaining a comfortable ride.

My Tokicos are just over a year old and they're already shot, I'm probably going Koni when I get the money. The adjustablitly is nice. How long do they usually last year wise if you run them in the middle setting?

Ok, I've been looking around, and just for the hell of it I went to Apexi.com. I see some coilovers on there, but they are for a 240sx. Does the Maxima and the 240sx have the same wheel base and everything? When I ordered my FSTB it was originally for a 240sx, and it bolted right up with no problem. Would coilovers as well or does anyone know?
