Bad fuel injector = wasteful on gas?

If this engine has "O" rings around the injectors, did you replace the "O" rings and lube them with petroleum jelly? It's easy to damage these seals and have them leak. If you pull the plugs when the engine is cold, are they wet with gas?

From reading other info on the net, these "O" ring seals are very prone to problems when replaced.

don't mean to diss brian in anyway.... yup yup I know he's gonna start nagging at me for this post. he's gonna try to convince us his 6 new bosh injectors worth $600 lol when in fact for $600 bucks you get a new jap engine with water pump, injectors, maybe alternator too.... under lesser than 60K lol
anyway, if you guys wanted to save $$$ on rebuilding your injectors, instead of buying rebuilt injectors you could have them clean out by professional. it's the same process that your rebuilt manufacturer used and it's much cheaper. I think I'd paid around $60 for all 6 when I did mine last time. And of course, I assumed you guys had your injectors' resistance tested ok.

Had the injectors cleaned at an local injector outfit. Still had problems with leaking "O" rings. The injectors were working perfectly before, but I decided to have them cleaned and pressed when I had them out for my VTC job. Should'a left well enough alone.

it's not that tough to avoid damaging the o rings or make a tight seal. just apply a little oil around the entire ring (or rings for ve), set it in the rail, put the hold down peice on and screw each side a little at a time until the injector is fully seated.. the oil is the key, the injector will slide in place much easier and with less chance of damage.

I had no luck with motor oil on the "O" ring. I was only able to seal it when I listened to someone here on Max.org and used petroleum jelly on the rings and fuel rail and carefully twisted the injectors into place. Seems that this is a well known problem. If you look at places on the web that sell these injectors I found several with disclaimers that usually initial failure of these injectors is usually due to damage to the seal when installing. Interesting that they made this disclaimer in the online catalogue.

that could have been the source of the problem. it's a frickin tight fit and if you're sitting there trying to twist in down, you're causing a lot of friction, which might score the o-ring(s).
