Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Owners

I just replaced my clutch about 18 months ago. I may have an issue with the pressure plate, and I am wondering if I can replace the pressure plate that came with the exedy stage 1 kit, with something I could acquire locally today (OEM, Autozone, etc...) and it be okay, or should I just go with a whole new kit.

I would open it up and see if there is any damage to the other components first.

I plan to do that. I just had it open this weekend, and I did not remove the pressure plate but it LOOKED okay. Of course, I'm no pressure plate expert, and should have taken pics, but I may take it to a shop today, and if they say it's the pressure plate, I wanna be able to hand them a part, vs them going to get an OEM replacement, or suggesting that I replace the disc as well (if it is not necessary).

i have the same kit u have. but can u describe the problem ur havin'? im pretty sure u can just replace the pressure plate and keep the disc but i may be wrong cuz im thinkin' like the Toyota guys. i hear they use a combination of clutch kits for their cars, but don't know if it will work the same to the Nissans or even just the 3rd gens. but if it were me get it checked out first and c what u will need or what they would recommend u. i think the best person to ask might be Matt. i think he will give u a straight answer on how to approach ur situation but describe whats goin' on with ur tranny at least.

I think Keelan did (spipedong90) but it was right away -it may have been the throwout bearing, I can't remember.

A couple of people have used the ACT disc with the stock Nissan pressure plate because they didn't like the characteristics of the ACT pressure plate. You shouldn't have a problem using a different pressure plate with the Exedy disc.

are you sure it's not a hydraulic or throw out bearing issue?
