Another one of my windows refuses to work now...3rd one, and I'm sick of shelling out $175 for a new window motor/ pulley assembly each time the window messes up. I've heard someone saying that thats unnecessary, and I'd like to get some more info on a more cost efficient way to go about this.

should be ~$75 or so for regulator and you can replace it yourself

if you can still hear the motor, but window doesn't work, most likely it's the regulator

www.kalebonline.com in the maxima garage section for part number you need

my page (click on link in my sig) for how-to replace regulator

thanks for the reply...which part is the regulator, I know my motor is fine, just the dude that always fixes my windows gets a whole new motor...and each time, the motor is seemingly fine.

I know Courtesy has the regulators for around $60.

The regulator is in the pic below. Use Craig's instructions to replace the regulator, its pretty easy takes about 30 min or so, I did mine 2 weeks ago.

So those are the parts I've been getting for my windows. That alone, Don Davis Nissan raped me $125 a pop, and 10 out of 10 times I go there for parts, they always give me the wrong ones.

geez

I've had my car since I bought it new in 94 and yet to have problems with any of the windows in my Maxima. Do you guys constantly roll the windows up and down or am I just one of those that are fortunate not to have this problem?

I had my drivers power window regulator go out on Thursday, my birthday. What a pain.

I went to Taco Bell tonight after work, I looked like such a moron opening up my door to give them my money and get my food. I have the door panel off so it feels and looks like Im driving a POS.

I got a regulator from a dealership here in NE for $70. I just have to find the time to fix it.

I used my power windows alot. I never (rarely) drive with the air on so every time I get in my car, the windows (3 of them, my back passenger window is shot too) go down and the sunroof goes back.

The dealership (don davis nissan) told me that those windows tend to go out if you don't "exercise" them enough. Sounds like a load of crap to me. I rarely used my rears before my first window went out, and I've been using them more often since, but it makes no difference. If it's gonna go out, it's gonna go out.

I use my windows A LOT. I haven't had a problem. For those who want to replace it yourselves, you can do it. It's not too difficult.
