Okay....my clutch problem solved?

Well...I pulled the Pressure Plate, and I have discovered that Exedy may just suck a$$..

History:

July 2002 - Bought Exedy OEM replacement

March 2005 - Exedy OEM Clutch has broken spring housing

March 2005 - Replaced with Exedy Stage 1

September 2006 - Exedy Stage 1 Clutch has broken spring housing

Maybe I'll try a different brand

That stinks because I have the same clutch. What is your driving style...redline a lot, ride the clutch, lots of city driving, lots of highway driving?

Glad you got it fixed.

I drive agressively, but I do not race hardly at all, I have been to the track a couple times, but not since the stage 1 has been on.

From examining the clutch, the disc itself is still in VERY good condition, both of them were. I'm wondering if there is some other problem I don't see, or issue with my driving style that is causing this.

I am trying to decide whether or not I'm going to try to get Exedy to do something, anything for me. The dealer I bought it from has basically already told me I'm f*cked.

I may just go to autozone and get the kit they have for $119, and call it a day. With the experiences I've had, I don't know whether I'd wanna put it back on there even if they replaced it for free.

Man that sucks. That's exactly what my old Centerforce clutch did, and when the spring fell out it completely ruined my old Stillen flywheel as well

Yeah, I got the stillen flywheel too, and it was kinda messed up, but the ring gear on it slipped, and I got it replaced for free by the manufacturer. This time it looks good.

Well, I spoke to a design engineer at Exedy this morning and they said basically 2 things

My issue is probably due to engine/transmission misalignment. Which I guess I'll buy because I know that not only does this car not really utilize the pilot bushing, but I also had a broken engine cross member, AND had to replace worn engine mounts since the clutch job.

They said the problem can also be caused by a failing input shaft bearing....

Can the input shaft bearing be replaced easily, or is it a "rebuild" type of job? How can I tell if it's bad without opening the transmission?

I have a napa clutch, and my presure bearing is making a bad *** noise. I have been told that it might be caused by a misalignment of the input shaft.
Hopefully a reply will tell us that a total rebuild is not neccessary.
On another note can a automatic tranny be flipped with a manual with out any major work to the car other than fliping them? such as computer work
thanks in advance
