Sunroof removal at the junkyard (pics)

So after buying my 3rd gen almost 3 years ago, the sunroof never went inside the roof, but only was able to tilt up. I got annoyed finally and took action. I was there for a corner light for a side job anyways, so I looked at what 3rd gens they had available. This one was in decent shape and had only 123k on the odometer (t-belt snap?) It took me a good 1 hr - 1.5 hours to get the sunroof assembly out of the car the destructive way of cutting the headliner and bending metal I couldn't get handle screws off of. I didn't need the glass or motor, so I took those off before bring it to the front desk. At the end of the day, it was $20 =). I started taking my headliner apart and a few hours later, I have no backseats or headliner trim anywhere. Thinking of redoing my headliner in charcoal grey instead of the light grey.

92-94 GXE w/auto climate control (not bothering on that idea since its too labor intensive)

theres the sunroof assembly

Got to ease this thing out of the car now

finally, out of the car minus the motor and glass

I will find out next week how functional this is once I install it in mine. I will be sure to lube up this good before I set it in my roof. I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

My headliner and all roof accessories removed

Backseats out of the car

view with rear seats, rear pillar trim pieces removed. Removing the backseats makes removing these pieces easier without risking snapping them in two.

Headliner and pillar pieces stored away. Still undecided if I should recover them in a different color (charcoal grey).

My foot got stuck in the mud a few times, I am aware to wear the crappiest clothes to these places.

I like my RSX a lot - quick, handles, and great fuel economy at 38 mpg with bolt on mods. I had a TSX loaner for 4 days and I hated it. You will be bored with that car - rather have a 3rd gen then to drive a TSX on a daily basis imo.

that's not Crazy Ray's in Jessup, is it? I've been there a few times and it's a good junkyard, but lots of mud like those pics.

I just swapped sunroofs in my old prelude too and got a working one from my parts car

this is the reason why im asking for the glass part is that mine is COVERED with rust and so is this part:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...a/000_0997.gif
and this is only external and only BAD rust ON the car all the other rust is on the glass part of the sunroof glass

i want to get it done at the same time so it wont transfer... and ASAP because rust as we ALL know = bad

positive side that sunroof is probably newer than you think as you can see in that pic the B pillar has been replace which means the car has had some structural damage to the side and they might have possible had to replace the sunroof. so maybe you got lucky and that is newer than you think

i always wondered how hard it would be to add one to my ride since mine don't have one looking at the picture i think if you could get a good straight cut it might come out good

So I finally got the new assembly back in the car. I have everything mounted in place minus the headliner. When I tested it, it will go into the roof, but seems as if the motor is struggling. It will stop in the middle, then you let go of the switch and do it again and it will go all the way back. Maybe my motor is going bad? I lubed up those tracks plentily before I installed the unit.

The lights will not fit.

It's not safe - the wheels will rub and the offset is incorrect
