3rd gen with bose

my buddy has a 3rd gen with factory bose system and wants to put in an aftermarket headunit. whats the best way of going about installing the headunit without rewiring the speakers? is there a wiring kit he could buy to? i know nothing about the bose systems. dont ban me for posting this, its just that my friend is too busy

Just kidding Why does he want to keep the crap bose speakers? They really are not that good.

I would go to circuit city or some place and get a wire harness and an antenna adapter then at least a set of rear 3-way speakers (6x9) and wire it up that way.

You dont need to run wires to the back, you can use the signal wires that are part of the factory amps, but you will have to determine what those are since i dont remember the colors off hand.

They sold me a crossover wiring harness when I bought my head unit at Best Buy. It cost less than $20. It plugged up to my existing BOSE plugs, it just has an additional power wire to power the amps on the speakers

thanks guys. much appreciated. i think bose blose as well. i used to have a car with a factory amp in the back and in order to get sound to my speakers, i had to rewire all my speakers to my new headunit. it was a big headache. i didnt want to do that with the 3rd gen max. plus no one sold an aftermarket wiring harness for my car. anyway, thanks again!!

Over time, each of my amps have been rebuilt, the last being about 5-6 years ago. The have been just fine ever since.

My 89 can out rock any factory bose system, and most of the stuff is from 1999.
