Go to Wal-Mart or any store with an automotive electronics section. They will have an adaptor harness that allows you to put a 95+ facory radio in a pre-94 chassis. I did it and it works great.

Wow that looks really good on there, looks like it was its stock head unit. my max wasnt equipped with the Bose system will it still work fine with it? Did you get a wiring harness or just do wire by wire like I did?

It looks pretty good but I still have no idea how to match the wires. It turned out that the previous owner cut out the original wire harness...

here is a post I made about this a while back. I did the swap as well on one of my old Maximas.

If you look in the post I used two links. That just made it easier but all you really had to do was hit the number 2 on top of the first link. Anyway check that out for wiring. Also they have the converter connector available on the top of the first link. Not sure if its worth $35...well I guess it is if you cant solder.

That's what I was looking for Almost...the only problem I have right now is that the original harness has been cut and tossed away so I'll need the meaning of the wires only by the way they look. Any pics of the harness by any chance? Thanks Michael-you've been reallly helpful....

Well all I can do as far as that goes is give you a link to the audio pdf that has the wiring color codes. That should be all the info you need unless the 92 wiring is different from the 94 (where the pdf came from).

here is the link
. Right click save as please.

Just be sure to notice how the plug is when trying to figure out where the wires go. Get them off and you can fry everything.

Hey I got a Premier head unit right now and dont plan on replacing it with a Bose 2 din HU...but if I did would it be compatible with the wiring and speaker on my car since it was not Bose originally, it was Active Speakers aka Clarion. Currently rear speakers are rewired to HU and all 4 are Pioneer. Can I still hook it up and get good sound?

NO because the bose HU is a low level out because each speaker has its own amp. What you can do is get a converter to change the low level imputs to a RCA connection so you can plug them into an amp. I dont think you will get very good sound that way though but I am not much of an audio person.

Bla, I knew that would happen, glad I didnt buy that HU off my friend back then. IIRC Bose is a 1 ohm compared to other brands that use 4 ohms but I'm not gonna get into that cuz I dont know anything about it and its just what I've heard. Thanks for clarification, def not going through all that trouble.

the 1 ohm 4 ohm thing doesnt have anythign to do with the HU though since the bose HU requires an amp (or amps) to work and the amp is what sees the 1 or 4 ohms of the speaker. Look at it like this even though its not exactly the same its similar. The speaker wires from the bose unit is basically the same thing as the LL rca plugs from a regular radio so you just need an amp to get the volume up enough to hear the music.

I did look into it a little because I really like the stock look of the bose DD especially with the ACC but I dont want to use the bose speakers. My friend said I could get a converter to hook up the speaker wires and make them RCA outs for my amp. I havent been able to find a good HU for cheap though...shoot me a PM or email with what HU your friend has and how much he wants.

Well, I managed to install it finally and all I can say is ..... wow...! I've been through my share of aftermarket systems in my car but the stock bose sound is one of the best that I've ever heard-super natural. It's amazing how much you can crank it up and it still sounds great. I also installed brand new bose speakers in the back(the old ones were really bad). Thanks again Michael-without your info this little project was doomed.
