I am about 40 miles north of D.C. The body is holding up well considering the car was NJ born/raised when I bought it. The only rust I see is very little behind the rear seats and the rear quarter panels thats not visible till you go on the ground and look urself. There was some repair work on the rear fender as well, I can see the cheap paint starting to show.

 

I would love to get a G35 sedan.

I still love cars but I'm just really focusing on school right now. I wanted to knock out the brakes, suspension, and drivetrain on my Mustang this summer. I didn't even touch it once

i wouldn't sell my 3rd gen at all unless it gets wrecked which will hurt me alot. right now im actually lookin' into the lexus IS300 5-speed but its been hard as he!! to find them cuz all i find is auto and tip-tronics. i am also lookin' at the 5th gen 5.5 and a G35 6MT coupe. but right now i guess i'll keep my car until i have enough to buy what i want. either way i barely drive it now. i've only put about 10k miles since i did the engine swap a year ago. i usually drive an explorer since she doesn't use it anymore now that she owns the 4th gen i got her.

 

Almost.. But not quite. The current GTO for instance is not as common as lets say the G35 Coupe, see what I mean? I see those once a month. The G35 in great numbers on a daily basis

I'm sure we've all been throught the not wanting to have what everone else does bit, I know I have. When it comes down to it, it doesn't matter what anyone else has. Buy a car you like, who cares if everyone else has it or no one does.

Think about it, you won't buy a car because you want to be different, but now you've let everyone else make the decision of what car you buy for you. How can you be different if you let other people make decisions for you? If you are buying a car, buy the car you like and forget the rest. The only people who care about what kind of car you drive are people who can't think for themselves.

my tranny in the 3rd gen died...so now i ended up with the 6th gen. some hate the 6th gen's styling and what not...but to each of their own. i end up liking it...a lot.

the 3.5 is such a vast improvement over the VG

 

i tried to find one with 5 wheels but they're mass producing them with 4 so i had to settle. 4 wheels are wack

Either way they are ugly and I wouldnt have one unless its worth money as the X models are. The only AMC that really looked decent were the javelins.

Actually, they don't keep em' as clean and no 5spds. Mostly beat up VG's around here. And going to junkyards at incredible rates

All of them are clean. Almost none of the 3rd gens around here are clean. Plus the 3rd gen styling is good enough to keep around. The G35 is obviosly copying the Skyline rear and the front looks like a bored hippo. It looks hot, don't get me wrong, it's just everyone has it, and it has a VQ thats in the 350z and most of the other current Nissans. When it really comes down to it, theres nothing special about that car IMO. Find me the VE engine, one with a 5spd, or a 3rd gen thats clean.. Any of those in my area will do. I promise you, it won't be fun. Add those up together, and you get something that not everyone has, oh yea!

 

Sorry clean/dirty makes a difference? Exactly how is the G copying the last iteration of the Skyline? It would have to as the 03 Gs were around before the new "Skyline" is going to be introduced.

I do believe there are many more 3-gens in circ than Gs probably.

I really don't know what the difference of the engine or tranny makes. On the outside all 3-gens are almost identical. Which is the exact reason you are tagging the Gs as "played out". Too many of them right?

Anyway, if you don't want a G, that's perfectly fine with me. And you are certainly entitled to think/get what you wish. I'm just noting your logic is flawed.

 

At one time I had three 3rd gens. I now only have one 3rd and one 4th.

I may get a g35 for my next car or a 5.5 gen or a Mitsubishi 3000GT. Whatever it is I will mod just enough to make it unique in my town.

But to you, the G being played out is all about looks right? You are applying a double standard to the maxima vs G. One that just happens to fit your bias.

You see. Like I said. You can get what you wish. But the G isn't more/less played out than the 3-gen maxima. Why? Because your own logic is "everyone has them". Okay. But then again, everyone has 3-gen maximas also (in one form or another). Being clean/5-sp/VE doesn't really count. Because most people don't differentiate inbetween the two. The only person that really cares are maxima owners. And even then, only a select few.

But when you mention G35s, you lump all of them together. Not quite the same comparsion is it? If you apply your own maxima logic, you should get a 6sp mt sedan/coupe. These are reatively rare as to the auto versions. Thus making the G, not played out right?

jeff he's talking about the v35, the jdm name for it, he doesnt realize its the same car just with a different name for usdm sale. Same car just says nissan where ever the g35 says infiniti.

I have two grey 93's right now, maybe my next car will be another grey 93? #1 is a parts car now for #2 which could be denoting its parts to still another, if I can find one. Its a nice looking, reliable car, but it's a necessity. When I can afford it, maybe I'll test drive an Infinity.

Well yeah, cause the car is new! I wanted to point this out from the get-go but it didn't hit me right away.. You can't really compare a new car and an old one in situations like this. Both are still fairly even in numbers depending on state, which is why I feel you and a few others are so confused about my "logic".

I think I need to clarify, because this is getting way out of hand. In the new car world, the G35 coupe is played out. The VE 5spd is not in the new car world, so we can't compare it. Forget I even tried. Simple as that. People are getting the G all over and I can understand why many wouldn't want to hop on the bandwagon no matter how good the car is. Maybe years from now when it's as old as the Maxima, I can see somebody saying.. "Oh what a good car this was. Let me get it.." But now, it would probably be better to go for something different.

I guess you just havn't seen the Skyline at night then. The rear end of the G coupe with those circular lights positioned just the way they are, looks exactly like a Skyline from the rear at night if you blurr your vision. No denying that. Im not saying exactly, but both cars look similar, not just the fact that they are 2+2s. Your just taking what I say to literally.

Nope, I don't agree. New cars and old cars are on a totally different level. New cars will always carry the hype and status that comes with being new, and old cars won't. So the two are on a totally different playing field. When your getting onto the G35 Coupe wagon, you are falling into a category of a very common vehicle, and theres no denying that. There are cars in it's class that aren't as common. Example: GTO.. Owning the G, you will get the hype and status that comes with owning one, but your not getting anything different from the other G coupe owner. And there are wayyyyyy to many as it is. Nobody cares about average old cars unless you did something special to them.

The G35 coupe has definatly become a played out car by now, and I can understand why people would not like to own something the majority of people have. Regardless of how much they are dishing out.. It's the principle. And like I said before, many have told me they would get it if it wasn't so completely bought out by everyone. I don't think you realize how extremely common this car has become around my area.
