I have 18x8 on my car but with 225's. I think that extra width might rub a little but I'm not for sure. I'm pretty sure I have that same offset too. You will probably be o.k.

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

The most important thing is the weights ....you don't wanna go with MOMO or BBS it's way too heavy for your car. Do a research. i'm not sure about Maxima 91' to 94' but . 235/40/18 and 225/45/17 would be fit perfect for 95' and up. i would recommend you to go with 225/45/17. especially you said that they are used. you don't know the history of the rim, as you know 18" rim is easy get damage. but of course !! 18" is gonna look better depends on how low is your car, too

I'm interested in knowing how you research how a wheel tire combo will fit on our cars because I see some wheels that I like in magz but how do I know if they will fit corectly or not????

I know that if you go to a tire place like the tire rack on the internet than they have a link on the site that shows how the aftermarket tire you choose affects your speedometer, and it shows you how much taller and wider it is than stock. Its a pretty cool pegram. I dont think it will help ypu on the offset but it will give you the best size tire to match stock. I think for our maxima's the closest to stock ratio of a 17" tire is a 215/45/17.

The biggest I would go would be an 18" rim. No more a=than 8" wide. For that setup I would go with a 225/40/18 tire. You could get a 235 but I know a guy with 18"'s and he has 235's and they rub when he turns the wheel all the way. My 225's are a lot wider than stock and I think are perfect.

Tire Rack Recommends 225-45 17, several here have 235-45-17 without problems, but it depends on the offset of the wheels. I went with 16s because I didn't want to get the ride to harsh, or take a chance on trashing a wheel on these outstanding NY roads.

umm..

The way it works is, the bigger diameter the wheel, the thinner the tire, the less tire there is to absorb the shock when you hit a bump on the road. I popped a cable in a freakin 16 inch tire on my 99 SE 5-spokes and had to get another tire, and those are 215/60/16! NYC roads suck major ***. I will eventually get 17's or possibly 18's, they will look sick! but they probably suck for performance (except handling) road will be rough and because of extra weight and diameter, it will be harder to push it. If the tire rubs on the strut, get some 1/4 inch spacers, but I think the problem will be on turns when u turn the wheel completely. Either way, 18's look hot to death, especially with a dropped car.
I regret getting these 16's

Re: umm..

I have 18" Konig Monsoons with 225/40R18 BFGoodrich tires and I have never really had any problems with rubbing or with the speedometer.

I agree... i never have any problem with my car. I have Quantum Tek 18x8 with 235/40 , the ride is perfect.... Maybe " Chris92gxe's friend did not change his shock...but i'll go with 18" or at least 17" for Maxima 95-99
