Heater Valve

Hey all

I have a fairly simply question
when my brother blew my old motor it melted a heatercore barb and i guess screwed up my heater valve. i repaired the barb but i need to wait for the junkyard to open again so i can strip a new valve. Can i run my heater without a Heater valve ? Right now i have the 2 heaterlines jointed with a connector but its getting so cold outside i just need heat in the morning.

Oh and can anybody show me a diagram of this entire setup?
I used a Jb weld type epoxy on the barb, how many PSI do coolant lines run?

thanks alot.
