Shift Light Requirements?

I was thinking about getting this shift light from Summit Racing http://store.summitracing.com/partde...00+%2D108178+0
Just curious if there is anything else that I will need for it to work? Cause there is a link just to the right of the picture, that says "Suggested Parts" Are either of those required?

Thanks.

i hate that scene. making the pizza hut guy look like a punk.. what's funny though is in real life he's a better driver than any of those street racers. i did that crap for 3 years and i'll tell you what, if some street racing mike barnes karate kid 3 sucker told me the road was closed i'd just laugh, get back in my car and find a way around his little blockade and to top it off drop the dime to the cops. you don't illegally block off a road and then tell the pizza guy of all people to find another way home pizza guy could outdrive any of those street racers. they're not the ones who log 30 hours of driving per week and maintain a 6 minute leg time no matter what the traffic conditions.

Yeah, what do you need a shift light for? You have a tach, right?

My mom's Wrangler has a shift light and I think it's the most annoying thing in the world especially since I never shift when it tells me to. For some reason, on a Wrangler, if you shift when the light comes on, you're way below the power band of whatever gear you're coming into. Like lugging low.

Who shifts for economy in a 4.0L Jeep that gets 17 miles to the gallon on a good day?

Edit: If you're shifting for economy, you should have just gotten the 2.5L 4-cyl version.

I am actually thinking about a shift light in my automatic Maxima. I'm not joking. Sometimes it would be nice for a flash to hit me just before I hit the rev limiter so I don't screw up. I've missed shifts and hit the limiter while racing the 1/4 mile. I never take it quite that high on the street. But on the track, I'd like it to flash at me 100 rpm before I bounce off the rev limiter.

My car revs up pretty dang fast with perfect traction, high stall torque converter and 22" MT slicks (giving me 4.10 final drive). But it's not a needed thing. But once I start doing 12s, I might think more about having one. I'm more worried about making my car faster rather than having a shift light. If I ever did get one, I'd hide that sucker pretty well just so people wouldn't ask a billion questions about why I need one with an AT. lol

My brother's 11 sec 454 Chevelle automatic had one. But you HAD to manually shift that beast just b/c of the tranny that was in it. You hit 2nd gear before the 60 foot mark (1.4 seconds away).

i was exaggerating. i really don't care about some movie scene. but it's funny how the unemployed, illegal street racer is the one bossing around the pizza guy. but i just seriously got a great idea from this whole discussion. to be continued..

No, you won't get flamed for something like this. It's a GOOD thing that you do not know what they are talking about!

Fast and the Furious is the movie. I'm embarassed I know that. Well, I'm off to go get some turbo parts overnighted from Japan. I pay cash for this stuff!
