mast only? --->

I had the same problem, but my mast was not broken, so I washed and drenched it in WD-40, but the problem persisted. Then I took the whole antenna motor out, and found to my delight that it fully disassembles. The grease in the tail area had dried out badly and acted as a friction agent rather than a lubrication agent. Anyway, I cleaned and greased every nook and cranny and moving part, and the original mast worked quietly and perfectly every time since then. One word of caution. Be careful not to get grease on the first segment (the one that stays inside the antenna assembly) There is a transfer area where the signal gets passed to the coax. Grease on there will act like an isolator leaving you with a moving antenna that gives no signal (been there, done that).

Easy repair. When you take it apart, take good note of the sequence of the o-rings washers and lock washers.

Good luck,

John
