Refilling at Auto Transmission

Hey guys, sorry if this is a repost but i couldnt find any useful information in stickies or on the internet for the 3rd gen auto transmission.

Well the story is this, i blew my radiator and had to have it repaired, when my mate took the radiator out we didnt plug the transmission cooling lines and now my transmission is somewhat empty.

My question is, how do you refill the automatic tranmission on a vg30e engine. I checked with my folks and they said through the dipstick for the tranny fluid. Is there a better way to do it?

Also what would be the best fluid to fill it with.

Through the dipstick hole is the only way I know of!

The dipstick hole is the best way to refill the trans...

I recommend using genuine nissan fluid from the dealership..

Thanks guys,

I refilled it with Castrol Dexron III and now the shifting actually feels better.

Tranny fluid is supposed to be changed every 60K miles or so. Most people don't, and later owners in cars sometimes have tranny problems. Anybody notice a pattern?
