3rd Gen Reunion - Tons of issues (damn the mother-in-law)

After being deployed overseas for 6 months and allowing my mother-in-law use of my car since she was watching the kids, I finally got my Maxima back and it is definately NOT in the condition that I left it.

Here's a simple run down:
1. A new clutch was installed (4 months after I had one installed) and its misaligned so it goes whoosh-whoosh-whoosh-whoosh.
2. The speedometer/odometer don't work and haven't since the clutch was installed.
3. The front passenger side speaker works. None of the others do.
4. There's a dime size hole in the passenger side door panel.
5. My brake pedal pulsates so I'm thinking I have a warped rotor somewhere. Its not enough to shake the whole car yet, but between the whooshing clutch and pulsing brake pedal, it's really annoying to drive.
6. I have 4 small scratches and a swirl mark on the trunk lid.
7. There's a fingernail size dent in the driver's side front door frame.
8. The middle slat of the driver's side triangle vent is missing.
9. When closing my sunroof from the fully open position, the visor screen comes with it.
10. There's a crack in the passenger side tail light that allowed water intrusion and shorted out the brake light.
11. The steering's a little tougher than I remember it to be. The ride's a little softer, too. I think the shocks may be on their way out but I can't even tell how many miles she's put on it since the damn odo doesn't work. (I seriously did that little dance around the car, too. Ask my wife.)

That's all that I've come up with so far and I've only driven it once.

That sucks, but what can you do? You could fix everything and give her a bill but then she could do the same for watching the kids. You're screwed-suck it up.

Yeah, well we did pay her rent while she was watching the kids. That was the deal. She wasn't supposed to be driving my car but due to a loss of her other means of transportation, it was all she had.

I think I'm going to hand the Maxima over to my wife, anyway. I just got a '90 4Runner. If my wife wants to press the issue, so be it. It's her mom. Her mom and I don't get along already so I don't want to go off about this just yet. It just really pisses me off because she seems to take advantage of our hospitality way too often.

For the record, NOBODY drives my car. My wife doesn't drive my car, my best friend doesn't drive my car, no one. Last New Years Eve I only had two beers all night just so I would be sober enough to drive myself.

I'm still just pissed off.

All I can add to that is "OWTCH". Hopefully, you will get your Max back to tip-top shape soon.

I had typed out a reply but then figured why bother youll never get it.

as for Phoenix that sucks, the same thing happened to another member on here Dnas420 he had a red 3rd gen and let his mother use and she totally trashed it, I think he tried to get it back to the condition it was when he had it, but eventually realized it wasnt worth it. If your wife wantto keep it I would say let her drive it, since its already kinda messed up its not a big deal if she's driving the kids around in it. The only thing I would worry about is the clutch and why it was replaced so early.
If it had gone bad you may have been able to get it replaced for nothing (unless you installed it yourself of course) see where she took it and tell them the problems with it, even if they dont replace it they may be able to work with you on the price if you explain the situtation.

Yikes. That woman sounds like a menace. I'm feeling a lot better about my MIL. Nice to help with the kids but she really beat up on that poor Max.

Is this a joke?

There's an Off Topic forum here if you have a political ax to grind. Just a warning though: I think there are a lot of no memory short hair post 911 traitor hippies over there.

Unbelievable...

Maybe you need to do that little dance around the kids. Given that she killed the Max, dang check the kids. That is why I live in California and my Mother in Law lives in Texas!! I wouldn't let that woman put gas in my car, let alone keep it for any length of time.

Tough break, post pics if you get it back up again
