Need help, car just die...
hey all, an new problem just occur with my car. sometime when i try to start the car, it just die on me. there is no power running in the car. the key gets lock in. i have to unplugged and then replug the battery everytime this happen to get power back on. sometime this help starts the car back up and sometime it just die all over again when i try to restart the car. its a brand new battery so weak battery is not a problem. i just replaced my mass airflow sensor (MAF). i replaced the fuel filter, plugs, cap, and air filter a couple of weeks before when the car start idling really bad (to the point where the car just shuts off). this is why i replace the MAF, but when the car does starts, it runs just fine. Has this happenned to you guys before? Could it be the starter? Do you know what is going on here? Any suggestion is appreciated.

How new is the battery? Because if your alternator went out, your brand new battery will only last a few days tops. Less than that if you do a lot of night driving. I would go up to Advance Auto Parts, or whatever you have there and get an alty check.

You think you might be able to lend him the caddy until it's fixed?
Maybe he could post some pics of the brakes for us?

mine's starting to drain the battery. my igniton switch is apparently going bad cause you can turn the key off and pull it out but it keeps the dash lights no. it kills the engine, just leaves the lights on. its supposed to kill power to the ignition circuit but apparently its only reducing voltage sometimes. my battery's started draining since then too even when the lights turn off. so if your ignition switch has done anything goofy you can remember, suspect that.

My vote is for the alternator.
If you get the car started, check the battery with a voltmeter because it should be at about 14V if the alternator is working.
I dont know how it is on the GXE, but on the SE the brake and battery lights both light up if the alternator dies.
