Ebay Muffler
Hey. Sorry if this is a repost or whatever but I haven't donated (yet
) and don't have the search function.
I was wondering if you saw any gains in performance (like the ad says) on those ebay mufflers. Something like This.
It's for a friend... not me, but I trust you guys' judgment around here and was just wondering opinions; or facts... if anyone has tried it personally. Thanks.

I have no problem with ebay guys. Just make sure you look for a seller with high ratings. I bought mine for 55.99 off ebay 4 yrs ago.

e-bay muffler = ricer
If you want exhaust, get a WSP Y-pipe followed by a cat-back system. I hate when people half-a$$ (aka ricer) mod something. If you don't have the cash to do a good mod, save your money until you do.

Probably the most important thing in having a decent exhaust is the RESONATOR. Without one, you car will sound like a'ss with almost any muffler.
Most of those ebay ones are just shiny coffee cans.

Out of all of the mufflers i've heard, the magnaflow dual tip [part#14816] sounds and looks the best to me...

Yeah, it's DEFINITELY not for my maxima. I would NEVER put something like that on my car, if I were to put something on it, first would be a Warpspeed Y, and possibly a magnaflow/greddy muffler with twin tip (possibly 2") tips. But my friend is looking to buy an older RX-7 (1985) and was asking me if it would cause any performance increase. I told him it would probably do squat... and the advertised 10HP increase was false. I wasn't positive so I decided to consult the org
...as I know you guys know this stuff.

I was going to get a less expensive Dynomax or a 2k Maxima one, but I heard MrGone's car when he first got the GReddy.....
If you actually go to a muffler shop instead of screwing around online, you can find good deals. Too many people worry more about how it looks than how it sounds. Performance is almost a non-issue with exhaust (except the y-pipe).
I was going to have an entire cat-back system put in -- including a resonator and a Dynomax -- for about $400. The muffler was not polished, but it had a very nice sound. I had dual super turbos on my Mustang GT and I really liked the sound.

The Magnaflow sounds very nice, but I'm taking it off today. It drones SUPER loud inside the cabin, and that's with a resonator. I have a small leak from the cat to the y, but I don't think it caused it to be that loud. I bought a Dynomax superturbo muffler today, and am going to have it installed very soon. If anyone wants to buy mine for like, 50-60 bucks it's theirs. It's not as shiny as it used to be, and got slightly discolored, but from the outside (what you can see when it's installed) it looks nice.

yea i have a dual tip magnaflow and it is sooooo loud. it really sucks cause the police hate me. i have like 4 loud exhaust tickets pending... ugh... but i had a db test done on my exhaust 89 db 93 is legal limit so they get dropped. the only thing i wanna do to my exhaust is put a resonator in there some where....

Were you ever able to rectify the source of the noisiness?I think it's because of the leak you mentioned.
I had a single tip Magnaflow muffler paired with the stock cat and Warpspeed Y and it didnt have that annoying sound. However, after installing a CarSound cat. conv.with the Magnaflow and Y pipe the car is noisy. I hate the sound but I do bel. it's because there's a tiny exhaust leak from the CC to the Y pipe.

I have a custom 2.25" catback resonator-less exhaust paired with the same magnaflow muffler as above and it sounds like sex!
In fact im going to go make a vid of it... Haven't had a chance to since the install.
Alex
I know my exhaust will be due for replacement from the cat back, and I'm not fooling around with any aftermarket mufflers, because if its just the tiny bit louder than stock, it will not pass inspection. Its a bummer that my "inspection connection" got busted last year!
I'll also be getting a y-pipe, even though the present pipe is near new. I remember the power difference when I put one in my GXE.
