Fast!!! UDP install help...

I am installing my UDP right now and i cant seem to get the 27mm bolt off the drive pully itself, i have tried kicking it and pulling it. so what way does the bolt come off, do i pull towards the front of the car, or do i push toward the back of the car?

also is i necesary to remove the belts before i try to undo the pulley?

Any help is great, thanks
Alex

right tighty, lefty loosey

it's a standard threaded bolt so counterclockwise

You'll probably need a big breaker bar though to help out since it's on there pretty tight. If you have access to an impact wrench, that'd definitely help.
You dont need to take off the belts yet but you will eventually when you take off the pulley obviously.

Thanks man, i know about the righty tighty lefty loosey but i wasnt sure and i was thinking about it from the bottom, so left would be to the back of the car...

Thanks for clearing that up though...

Lets go see if i have the man strength to get this bastard off.

you need an impact wrench to get it off, don't waste your time or you need to wedge the fly wheel... waste of efforts, just get an impact wrench... any will do it, even a cheapo impact wrench that uses car battery will do just fine.

I've even sometimes been able to pop it loose using a long breaker bar and just bumping the starter. let the breaker bar whack against the control arm and it'll pop loose.
not the best method though.. I've made it work when my impact wouldn't break the crank bolt loose.

the other thing you can do is drive the car to a local tire shop or mechanic and have them break it loose using an impact, then just tighten it by hand so you can drivce it home.

and yes, you need to remove all of the belts in order to remove the pulley. not to break the bolt loose, but definitely to remove the pulley.

Not to post ***** but I needed the impact gun when I installed a UDP. I dont know about the one mentioned above, I used an air gun set pretty high. It did come right off but hey.

Impact wrench is for loosers, i used my hydrolic jack to pry the breaker bar up thus getting the bolt loose, then i just twisted it off... Install went well aside from the 2 hours driving around buying stuff, and breaking my spark plug while setting the timing at 10:15pm when all the auto stores are closed

Anyway thanks for the help guys, but no need for an impact wrench. can't wait to get the car running again

No crown yet... and I wouldn't call myself a god... guru maybe, but no god..

the dash came out because the heater core was leaking. yuck. that was a nightmare I'll not soon forget.
and unfortunately it's going to have to all come back out eventually.
I didn't get something right on the AC ductwork and it leaks water around the cowl intake. pass floorboard is always wet after it rains.
