I went to the nissan dealership today to get my fluid and filter changed. I wouldnt normaly go to nissan for small stuff like that but places around here will just change fluid and not the filter and charge for both. Anyways the nissan dude asked me what kind of car I had and I replied a '93 maxima. He said that the filter never has to be changed. He says that it is a life time deal and all I need to do is have the system flushed at most. Is this true? TIA

 

There's a screen inside the transmission that filters the ATF, but you would have to disassemble the transmission to get at it.
