bad injector?

A friend of mine has a 92 maxima (VG) that has been running rough. Nissan said it has a bad injector. Should i replace just the one bad injector or all 6 of them? Also, would a used one be ok or should I go new? Lastly, is there a difference in injectors between the VG and VE? Thanks

1. if he's paying labor do all 6 NEW only
2. if he's not paying labor and doesn't mind doing the job multiple times then do em 1 at a time.
3. Used are fine if you've tested them and don't mind replacing them if they go out. That being said I'd use a used injector over a Rebuilt/ reman injector on my max any day of the week. I do highly recommend new ones if he plans on keeping the car.
4. yes, the DOHC maximas (92-99 VE,VQ) take different injectors than the SOHC (89-94 VG30E) maxima does.

92 VG injector is the same down til 89, 93/94 are different though.

Several years ago, I had the same problem. I did a resistance check on each injector and found that #4 and #6 were both out of spec, but the other ones were all within spec, so I bought 2 new injectors from Nissan.

About 35K miles later, the car still runs fine.

One thing to note: The injectors have a blue or black dot imprinted on them. Make sure that the replacement injectors all have the SAME color dot.

Could I also have a bad injector?

Hello!
I am having serious issues with my Maxima.
1989 Maxima V6 3.0L engine Automatic.

The car hesitates sometimes in low rpm. It also hesitated at 50 mph getting on the autoroute. The car also drops to 500 rpm and idle isn't stable like going from 500 to 1000 back to 500 rpms at a red light.

If I shift the car in park or neutral, I can floor the car with no problems. If I put the car in neutral or park at a red light when the problem is happening the car suddenly idles fine and normally. The problem is intermittent and happens whether it is hot or cold outside or if the car is hot or cold.

The car will run fine sometimes for many hours and suddenly it will start hesitating the next day. It usually happens at low rpms and speeds but as I mentioned it did happen during accelaration at 50 mph.

Here is what was changed:
Spark Plug Cables
Spark Plugs
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Added injector cleaner in fuel.

bad gas (tried different gas tations)

Problem still happens randomly.

Here is what I found could be the problem by surfing on forums.
coolant temperature sensor
Mass airflow sensor
O2 sensor
knock sensor
transmission control module
clean pcv valve
IAC Valve clean
fuel pump
wire connections
valves or vacuums
worn rings in engine
faulty injector(s)
transmission

I don't want to keep spending money for nothing. Anyone have an idea what is causing this to happen intermittently? I did not try cleaning anything yet. Could I have a bad injector also? (or going bad?)
