Damn. No love for the only fool to buy your shaved door kit

Well I bought this car for a few reasons.

-Cheap enough for a poor 18 yr that just walked out the door of my parents house with my new wife.
-It was black, 4 door, liked the body style.
-Did some research on cardomain of all places and saw Shavedmax's car.

-800 cash plus 92 mustang lx.
-2000 for a tranny job(it was a con job) by Cottman.
-repairs, tune ups, tail lights, tail lights, body kit, trial and error, parts carS, around 3000.

So for roughly 6000 for the past five years isn't much at all for a vehicle compared to a car payment. I frikn love this car. I did all the work myself with only a few months working in a garage for experiance. I've learned so much about this particular vehicle with the help of the .org.

Now that I had family with my second child comming soon. I've slowed on the work to the car and now planning on getting more reliable family car. As much work I've done, it left me hanging a few times.

Still plan on finishing it no doubt, but in not much hurry. Not for the fastest max ever, but something fun to drive and look sexy to me and maybe a few others.

I know once I get a couple more lines cut in my body Shaved will talk to me again

Not that anyone cares, but here's my story in a nutshell: I was 19 years old and tired of having rust issues (exhaust, several interior leaks, etc.) not to mention a possessed carburetor, nearly 200K miles, and a host of other little things on my daily driver, which was getting about 200 miles a day from where I lived and where I worked/ driving around for job/pleasure.

Anyway, there was a local dealership that imported cars from southern florida almost weekly. Saw the Maxima (which I already liked) for $6K initially. It sat there for a couple of months and I walked in one day and offered the guy 4K for it, which he took. Nice clean car with 87K miles.

Started tinkering and wrenching even more than I did in the past about a year after I bought it, found the .org, and that is where the mods begin. In the last 2+ years I have done all you see today, not possible w/o you guys.

Summed up: I have learned a LOT, spent even more, and have a car that I love and is truly MINE! Will continue to tinker and upgrade for another year and a half until I'm out of college, then will get a different daily driver, but keep the Maxima and who knows? Maybe I'll turbo it.

I don't quite understand this:

jeff i think also just "became" an enthusiast,
This however is accurate. Got out of one $ pit and into another! hehe
but when his car got stolen he moved on, he knew when to cut his losses and move on.

i dont know anyone who has alot of cash and says, hey i'm going to dump 20k into a mediocre late80's early 90's 4 door sedan.

if they have cash to burn they are burning it on a more maintream car, civic, mustang, camaro, 300z 240, etc, not mom's maxima. i think most people that heavily modded a max is because it's what they had to work with and slowly dumped cash into it. i know i did, lost every penny, but i wouldnt have it any other way. i enjoyed my time with my max, i wish i still had it, but life goes on. most of my big dollar parts are in my 4th gen, so it wasnt a huge loss, but things like my tails, shaved doors, body kit, paint were a waste in the long run.
Why'd you get rid of it anyway? Did it die on you completely or something? That car was amazing for a 3rd gen.
