Spline Protection

The FSM recomends using a seal protector when replacing the drive shaft back through the new transmission oil seal. Does anybody use these? They're a thin split sheath that goes into the seal, that the driveshaft splines go through, to protect the seal from the sharp splines. It's split so it can be removed after the splines are inside the transmission. I can't find anyone who carries these and I wonder if there is a better (cheaper) way to make sure I'm not yanking out my new seal in a week.

I always rubbed a tranny fluid around the seal lip and axle. If your careful, you won't have a problem, as far as I know, they don't sell things like that.

Spline protection? Sure, I gots some of that. Its only $49.95 for the first month then $29.95 for every month after that. I can't say what those other guys will do to your splines if you don't go with me.

Check this link for most of Nissan's speciality tools.

I'm unsure whether they can be purchased by a non dealer. However, you can try cross referencing both Nissan's and Kent Moore's part # to locate it elsewhere.

Browse it for additional information regarding engine model numbers etc

Ive probably dropped my trans atleast a dozen times and I've never done anything special when putting my axles back in. I seriously doubt you will have any problems without "protection".

when you slide the axle back in don't let it rub with the seal and you should be ok.
