Door Lights?
Door Lights?
Hey, I replaced my door lights with red 194 bulbs (pretty dim), along with the speedo and what-not. And was wondering if anyone knew how to wire the door lights to where they always stayed on, and not just when the doors were open. They're so dim that it wouldn't bother me and having the little extra light in the car at all times would be kind of nice. Thanks.
It really doesn't look rice at all, it's not bright and flashy, it's subtle and dim; but I like the extra visibility in the car when they're on, without having to screw with map/dome lights. Hah, never been called rice before; but I guess red bulbs in the door calls for it
Got it all done and I like the way it looks... Some might say it's ricer (apparently) But I think it adds a nice "feel" to the inside. So, with 194R bulbs I've done:
Gauge Faces
All 4 Door Lights
Shifter Light
And the red one's under the glove and steering column... pics:

the red looks pretty hot. kinda like a halloween fun house or something.
the "always on lights (door lights)" could be done. my dad did it for my bro on his max at the time (its mines now!) and it can be turned on with a simple switch. you'll have to expliot the fact that they come on when the doors open. you can find it in the electrical part of the technical manual. just have to bypass the switch that senses when the doors open. i have no clue what my dad did nor have i looked it up, but thats the general direction you should go if you were to do it.

No, that actually looks pretty cool that way. I don't really like the red gauges but I suppose it's probably necessary to go along with the theme.

Haha, I'm not that good. I bought those little Ricer Neon tube things from Autozone and mounted them up under the dash and just ran the wires under the carpet to a cigarette lighter adapter under the drivers seat. So it looks really clean.

i built mine to a switch that operates by my normal interior lights. i turn on my interior ones they go on. with a "kill" switch incase anyone *****es about them being bright. since my first car i've always had foot lighting. I have a fear of something rolling under my brake and me dying... even though i keep my car spotless...
I had wanted to do some work to my car like this this week but its to damn cold. I'm probably gonna put some lights on an independent switch so they can be on without the other lights in the car being on, some nice accent lighting for at night.
Red looks good but I love my ricer blue, except I only have it in my cluster, shifter and head unit and one of these days I hope to get the climate control and clock to match.
Does anyone know how to make the clock blue?
