I am switching a Maxima from KYB to Konis. Do I need to go to a junkyard and locate two OEM front stuts and pull it from a junker, or will the strut stuff the KYBs are already connected to suffice for the KYB-->Koni exhange?

 

As long as you have a strut assembly to insert the strut cartridge into, you'll be fine...

I'm not too sure about cutting open a gas charged strut like the KYB. The rears are inserts even for the KYBs so that's no problem. It's the fronts that present a problem.

 

Hmm...good point, Jeff...See if you can get some front struts from a local junkyard. Or, if you want to be daring, it MAY be possible to drill a small hole near the top of the strut to discharge the gas and then go to work cutting it...
