The Tranny Trick?

The Tranny Trick?
Hey, had a question about "The Tranny Trick" Found on Bryan's Maxima Page
It says, "The "Tranny Trick" is a modification that involves the simple pulling of a wire harness that resides near the left strut. When you pull the connector, it takes out the line resistance that makes the shifts soft in an automatic transmission Maxima. I have heard both good things and bad things with this "trick" and use it very seldom."
Has anyone ever heard, or done this? My Stock VE-Auto sure does shift smooth, but it ROBS power under WOT. Wondering if it has any potential of screwing up the tranny, where the wire harness is located (specifically.... don't just wanna go pulling harnesses by the left strut) and if it really does help make the shifts faster. Thanks to any replies...

it is the drop resistor that is being referred to and I believe at WOT it is bypassed anyhow.
ask in the 4th gen section, they bypass it more often than 3rd gens do, and the VE has the same trans (internally) as the VQ does.
