brake line part #........

Just noticed I have a brake line leaking by the rear drivers side door. I looked underneath and the fuel lines look ok but the 2 brakes lines are pretty rusty.
Does anyone happen to know the part # for the 2 brake lines on a 94 SE with ABS?

Should I just let the dealership install these? If I have to order through them
should'nt I just let the dealer install the lines? I looked underneath and it's too
rusty for me, + that's a long snaking brake line.Has anyone replaced these to
lines?

really ,your going to say do a search to a guy that has read
about 10-15 different threads on brake lines. I was asking
your may 2007opinions. Now you've insulted me with your
"SEARCH" comment. I see how you got your 14k posts..
you search, Matt

Matt's point is that this topic has been covered within the last 6 months.
and Since you DO have the search function you should be able to find it easily.

If you've read 10-15 threads on this topic and still have questions about it, then it's not us.. it's you.
This EXACT question has been covered at least three times in the last few months. Anything you have/can ask on the subject has already been answered in those threads.
that's why we have the search function. If you're too ignorant/obstinate to use it, then why should I bother repeating myself for someone that's not going to listen to what I have to say?

If you got lots of money - go ahead and let the dealership do it for you. If you got lots of time and can swing a wrench, then this is an easy job for you. And if you are somewhere in the middle and are NICE to the folks on this board, someone close to you would have volunteered to help you for a six pack. You can still try it.

IGNORANT!!!! I'm not the one so lame I post 14k times. WTF can someone post that many times about? I thought this site was cool, but it seems to
be a bunch a of RICERS, ya RICERS that have nothing better to do. This
excludes the dudes that I've had contact with. Now I've been insulted you better believe I'm coming to chicago for rice-ima or what ever just to see what ya'll look like.

EDIT: why I'm coming to Chicago. I"m mad but not crazy.

No, no threat DUDE! I've came in here with respect for the last 2 years.
Even trying to help others with things I already knew. Wayne we've been
cool, But when I finally have a real issue, then Matt wants to tell me to
search? WTF is that? I have only 1 ride to get to work and I need to figure
out what is best. I thought maybe I could get opinions from you guys in here
now about how to fix or let the dealer fix. Then to get treatment as I did makes me feel If your not in your click ,then search dont bother us.
I threatened no one,but you better believe I'm comming to see how you all look and talk to you in person, and catch a cub game. Go ahead "MOD" do what you got to do.

I just want those who take me comming to Chicago the wrong way. I'm not
threatening,I'm just intrigued by ya"ll.

EDIT: Not all owners of Maximas are "RICERS" I was just mad because I"m footing
it and I got a "SEARCH" from a fellow org'er.

Nice backpedal..

I'm going to let you in on a little secret...Matt has more knowledge of these cars stored up in his noodle than any of us combined...If you would have just admitted defeat on not being able to figure out how to replace these brake lines after reading the threads on the subject,he probably would have been willling to help you even further..but you had to get all prideful about it and try to flame him..

And to be honest about it,swapping the brake lines is not that hard, just look at all the crap in the way, then remove the crap in the way/replace lines/put crap in the way back on...simple enough?

about 30-50 in parts and rest is labor. It's really rusty underneath and I
have no means or business trying to fix on my own. My family rides in my
car ,so it's priceless to me.

I've fixed the sea belt chime myself
I've installed a new antenna mast myself
I've installed a new battery and altenator myself
I've grounded the vtc's myself
I've fixed the door lock timer myself
I've done all plugs ,,tranny fluid change ,and all oil changes myself
I pump my gas myself

Can't do the brake lines myself.

Ignorant ricers, eh?
The reason I have 14,000 posts is because I've been around since before the .org was the .org. Look at my member number. I was a moderator for 4 years and gave it up for various reasons, one of which being that I started a business selling Maxima BRAKE PARTS and was a conflict of interest for a mod to run a business selling to the forum. I also got tired of putting up with comments like yours flaming me because YOU are unwilling to read.

1 min of searching came up with this thread..
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ht=metal+brake

If you can't read through that thread and make a decision on whether or not you want to do the work yourself, then posts like this are exactly what I expect from someone like that. The only time I see people upset about being told to search are the ones that want their hand held through the process. Which is the entire point in me telling you to read the other threads. Had you read the post I linked above, you would surely have made the decision to take it to the dealer and let them do it- which is essentially what you wanted to know, right? Thus, my telling you to search was completely justified. Your answer was found in less than 1 minute by searching and reading.

That said, I am glad that you've decided to take it to a dealer and let them do it. As you've said, your technical skills may be sufficient, but considering the implications of doing it improperly, you made the right choice in deciding to let a pro handle it.

You are running a financial risk.

Welcome to the ways of the stealership. that was an initial quote to get you to hand over the car. After they have taken out the old lines they will probably tell you you need some bodywork before they can put the parts back in and that will cost you another $500 or else youcan tow your car away after paying $ 400 for labor already incurred.

If it is a good dealer you know and (semi) trust, I wouldn't be worried. Brake lines are not an uncommon repair item and their quote should be pretty accurate. Obviously I'm being optimistic, but a good dealer will not charge more then quoted.
