Bose Radio Issue...

Hey fellas..., I have an issue with the Bose Radio in my 94 GXE. We seem to be getting power to the radio because the buttons (power, cd, presets etc) are illuminating, however, it seems to have a mind of its own as far as functionality. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes I have to slap it.

Any suggestions or help??

Thanks in advance!!

You have to hit the actual HU? That sounds like a bad connection at the HU itself. Probably the wiring in the back.

These Bose systems are notoriously bad about the amplifiers and speakers conking out. Each speaker has it's own seperate amp located at the speaker. Most people that can afford it, yank out all of the Bose and replace it with something aftermarket.

unfortunately after 13yrs the "bose" H/Us and amps have all developed problems. The only question is did someone fix them yet.
you can fairly cheaply swap out the bose for cheap aftermarket setup.
get a cheap H/U >$100 some cheap 6x9s >$30 and some cheap 5 1/2s >$30 and a piece of MDF >$8 total cost $170 max.
I'm sure you could get even cheaper (I get ads every now and them for $1-5 speakers) if you really don't care about sound quality much.

I never understand people who want to replace a factory stereo with a factory stereo. You can get a better unit that will have the features you really want for less money.

Personally, I'm looking at a DVD/navigation unit, though I don't know if I'd want a screen that low...

Personally I prefer OE stereos because when they work, they sound pretty good. and they don't get stolen!

simply put I like a stock look...not big on aftermaket stuff anymore.....some things I am but not radio's......the stock HU was fine until it decided to stop working.....dont want to change the head unit then have to buy other harnesses and wires etc......just want a simple stock HU...thats all.

with that said I "still" have a non-working HU.....I'll just plug it back in and see if it turns on by itself again.......like my sig says, its a daily beater, nothing special...

if you go aftermarket on the H/U you either need an adapter to adjust the output of the aftermarket stereo to the bose amps inputs, or replace the speakers with aftermarkets that will be compatible with the H/U
