Speedometer Sensor Install on VG
I was told that one screw (a Phillips/10mm) holds that sucker down.
Now the old part had a plastic-type top that sits within the uppermost part of the body of this thing. So that popped right out. Almost like it came unglued or got loose.
The replacement part is one solid metal body, no plastic. Much better design, but the old one wont come out..
I tried to pry it, no luck. Tried the vise grips, no luck. Is there something else holding that thing down? it will rotate around after I take the screw out, but I cant get the rest of the assembly to budge upwards.
Cleaned it all up with some degreaser.
Something Im missing?

At least on the 5 speed, you just have to work at it, twisting it is the best way to ensure it won't break although getting a grip on it can be tricky. You might take a standard screwdriver, or chisel to get underneath the lip and pry it up. The seal is what's making it tough.

I actually broke down and invested in a set of vise grips. It tore the metal housing apart like play-dough but It finally came up. The gasket was indeed swelled alot and looked more square than round. Problem solved and I don't need a cluster!
