Bangs into gear out of park

Did some searching but nothing really helped as far as my problem went.

When I start my car and I am in park, then I shift to reverse, and sometimes drive, it "Bangs" into gear semi-violently, and the RPM's drop drastically. A few times (like twice) while shifting into Reverse it bangs hard then the whole car dies. It's kind of annoying because the transmission itself shifts fine. I would think the drop resistor would cause hard shifts if it were disconnected/faulty, but this is strictly in Park to other Gears.

Any insight would be appreciated

tranny/engine mounts.

I had the same problem earlier this year. When I looked at the rear transmission mount, it had failed completely.

Pop open your hood.

Start your engine. Stay in your driver's seat. Peek into the engine compartment from the driver's seat as the car is idling. Shift the car to Reverse and Drive with the brake applied. If your mount(s) are bad, your engine will move a lot when you shift into gear.

At least you can say that you managed to stall an automatic car by shifting. That's a pretty difficult thing to do.
