Cleaning Injectors (Out of Car)
Hiya folks.
I have a bad #4 injector, so I went to the junk yard and got the whole rail for cheep cheep. I know this probably isn't the best idea, but a whole rail for $5 vs. 1 injector for $100? I'm a college student...can't do it.
Anyway I want to know how I clean these injectors up and test them to see if they are in working condition. I have a DMM, and that's about it.
Also, how do I get these bad boys off the rail...sheeesh they are in there tight.
As always... thanks!

I would swap the whole rail out,(rail with bad injector/w j-yard rail),that way there is no chance of damaging the j-yard injectors trying to get them out of the rail..
As far as cleaning goes,i would just spray the ends with throttle body cleaner spray/then use a small brush to get the crap off the end of the injectors...

Since you have a DMM, check the resistance on the terminals, good ones have 11-14 ohms. If all are good, just put the rail in place of yours to save some trouble.
Getting them out of the rail is difficult, you may destroy the injector.
1. Secure the rail in a vise if you have one
2. Remove the cover held by two screws
3. Spin the injector clockwise and counterclockwise to loosen it a bit.
4. Put on of the screws back in, the one that wont bump the rail when it goes in, and spin the injector so that the harness connector is over it
5. Use the screw for leverage to lift the injector with a flat-head, and use another flat-head to wedge into the slight space that should open up
6. Once you have enough leverage from both screwdrivers, use them to push up uniformly and it will lift out; dont jerk it, just steady force
You will need to get new seals for the installation, and maybe pintle caps if you break them by accident. I found a good source for the caps a while ago so I can dig up the info if you need it.
