rpm and clock

my tach. and clock are out... stopped working.... well... when i was installing my stereo... i realized the ground cable didn't ground well... so i hooked it up to the screw on my auto shifter.... i think it might be the ground... cause sometimes it clock and tach works... but rarely...

what you think? i think it's the grounding... i wanna try to cut and rewire the grounding and see if it work... but i wanna see what you think before i go cut my cables...

my clock goes dim (like many other 3g clocks) but i've found that to fix it, all i have to do is tap it with my knuckle about 3 times....each time it gets brighter....anyone else ran across that?

edit: not looking for someone to explain the clock to me, just mentioning it. I'm going to replace it soon, just haven't had time.

Yeah, my clock is screwy that way too. From what I understand, it is likely a bad solder joint on the board, which is a pretty easy fix. The hard part is tearing everything apart to get to it.

My clock rarely reports for duty these days and is known to take lengthly vacations. Recently it's been on quite a bit though.
