Help --> Replacing fuel filter
This is my first time doing this, so I don't know exactly if one of the steps in my manual is correct. My manual tells me to reset the memory in the ECU by turning the screw clockwise and then turning it back counterclockwise. Is this step for a 3rd or 2nd gen? If someone can confirm this, it would help me out a lot. Otherwise, after depressurizing the fuel system, I just switch out the filters, replace the fuel fuse and connect the neg. terminal, right?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds good. I didnt disconnect the neg. although. Just thought i'd mention that when you depressureize the system to try to start the car about 4 times and then wait a few minutes and try one more time. I'm mentioning this b/c after I depressureized mine there must have been some residual pressure in there somewhere and when It was disconnected and I walked away to pick up a tool and a burst of gasonline was relased out of a hose. I was like uuuhhhh huh cool uhh huh, never the less I was glad I wasnt standing in front of the potential flame thrower hehe...
Also I installed a K&N fuel filter (reusable) about $70 and its aluminum billet. Performance gains you ask? Probably not, but there is a chance that it will flow better than the others.

Uh oh..did I do something bad?
Hey, I changed the fuel filter...I just got a small bowl to catch the gas. And then I put the new one on. I did nothing electrical at all...did I screw up?
I think that you have to reset the ECU. I just finished replacing it and am going do the ECU thingy. Just in case you don't have the Hayne's manual, this is what it says:
"Erase the memory code (Code 22 of the Self Diagnostic System Mode III) by turning the diagnostic mode selector on the ECU fully clockwise. After the inspection lights have flashed four times, turn the diagnostic mode selector on the ECU fully counterclockwise."

no you don't have to reset the ECU for a fuel filter replacement. why would u want to in the 1st place if there's no error codes in the ECU?? to reset all the parameterers so it'll have to relearn everything?
