Would I be able to remove the timing belt cover on the vg30e alone or do other things need to be removed?

welllll.............
it takes like 8 8mm bolts for the top and like 4 8mm bolts on the bottom, but to get to the bottom youll have to take the crank pulley off, and to do that youll have to take the starter off to jam up the flywheel 2 14mm bolts, the crank is either a 24mm bolt or a 27mm bolt depends on the year, then youll have to take off the water pump pulley 4 10mm bolts then the bottom timing cover can come off easily with out breaking or bending it

I just wanted to check out my timing belt so taking off the top half would be enough right? When I bought the car I was told it was done. The spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and brakes are new so I just want to make sure that the belt is too.

take it off and make shure that it dosent have too much flex 13-14.5 mm you should be good but if there is no way to tell when it was last changed then i would change it, but just to check you could take the top half off make shure everything is clear and run the engine see if there are arent large chunks missing....

It's gonna take you awhile...the wheel and fender well splash guard need to come off before you can even think about starting in on the engine...I've done the job once and it was enough of a PITA for me never to want to do it again...

Sounds like what had to be done on my sonata. I just want to take off the top cover to check out the belt, not replace it.
