Joshua Tree dash kit?
#1
Does anyone here have the brushed aluminum dash kit for the 3rd gen max? I recently purchased one of the simulated ones and returned it because I didn't like the thick clear coat it was covered in. I just got the "real" aluminum one today and it looks the same. The picture of the real aluminum one on their website looks like it is bare aluminum without any thick coating over it. Does this exist for our Max? Am I crazy? Did I just get another simulated one by mistake? They seem to look the same to me.

Matt93GXE just got one
I'm pretty sure it is the real aluminum and not simulated. I don't think it has that convering to it from the look of his pics. look at some of his posts and I think he has a link to some of his pics from there

Those guys screwed up and gave you the wrong kit.. the one that I have is bare aluminum with some double-sided tape type stuff on the back to hold it to the dash..
My kit doesn't exactly fit that well, but it's okay..
there are pics on my website, but my work server is messing up and I can't search to find a direct link.. it's under here somewhere..

try looking in the /new/ directory once you get to there.

Thanks for the replies. I contacted JT and they confirmed that they sent me the wrong kit. This is after I specifically requested a real aluminum kit in an email to them. They also told me they do not have a real one for my model Max. I pissed cuz I have a sweet Blaupunkt Casablanca head unit with a silver face that would look tight with the aluminum. DAMN!!! Any suggestions? Looks like JT sells the real kit for 92-94 Max but it seems as though it will not fit my dash. The dash is slightly different. Am I S.O.L or what?

you're basically SOL. I know there are others that make dash kits, but I don't know of anyone in particular who makes one for 3rd gen maximas, let alone the 89-91 maxes..
I wonder if you could get the dash plate off a 92-94 from a junkyard and then buy the kit? hmmmmm...
if you don't have a junkyard nearby, I try to go by one here and find out for ya.

If your good with paint you can always paint your interior to match your head unit. Its fairly simple but you need to take your time. Mine turned out great, but my friend tried it in his 240 and he messed it all up. If you go that route make sure you sand everything real good.
92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.
