FINALLY! The Max is back home...

So, some of you will remember this thread... http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....light=Deer+Hit

For those of you that don't, here's the cliffs:

I hit a deer at 72 MPH.... Carnage ensued...
--------------------

Anyway - Insurance totaled the car, but because it is older than 10 years old- the insurance company does not report the vehicle as salvage or rebuilder, so I kept the car and it has a Clear title and will be able to be reinsured

I was paid $1700 after my deductible ($500) -- paid $1000 to have it fixed/painted (did the teardown of the front clip myself) and bought a clip off of a car for $250 that I ended up not using... (maybe will make some from scrapping the metal - and got a rear end disk conversion and a few more SE parts too)

So - here are the pics of the process and what she looks like now (made a few minor changes) - not too bad I don't think...Nice to be back in the car!

Clean! Did the deer's insurance pay for it or did you get stuck with the bill?

A local shop did it - unfortunately they only shot the hood, right fender, bumper and grill... I was going to paint the entire car, but decided against it in light of purchasing a F250 that I now drive and are going to sell the max and buy the wifey a new car in under a year....

Yah, the cost of repair from the insurance company was near $3K - I only paid $1250 including some extra SE parts... They just did it as a favor to me as I knew the shop owner from being an insurance adjuster. I got all the parts at body shop cost (cheaper than cleaning up the used parts I bought b4 talking to the shop ) and they did it when they could squeeze it in....

Unfortunately we had a major hail storm in the spring (car was inside the shop) and they just now are getting caught up!!! I didn't get the car tore down until January

I was originally going to just get it fixed and sell it - but after having it for a week or so, I bet we keep it just as an extra car and one I can tinker with They are nice cars and were ahead of their time I think... Next is changing the rear lights to SE lights and new tint to shade the interior from the sun!!! (and black it out even more )

my black leather would have gone perfect with the new black paint but its long gone.... :/

That wasn't a very bad hit at all. Buffed right out didn't it?

Yeah, the leather would have been perfect... but oh well - would have been a pain to try to change the entire interior

I wouldn't say it buffed right now lol nah -- it looked worse with all the exterior pieces on.. they took the brunt of the hit.. only support piece that was damaged was the radiator support/headlamp mounting area..

used the original bumper reinforcement and the right side apron assy didn't budge...
