When i went to change my spank plugs today i realized the whole around #3 is much smaller than the space arounf the others. I cant fit any spark plug tool i can find into the whole.....any suggestions.

Are you sure #3 is smaller? Do you mean that the spark plug socket cannot be put into the hole?
I just changed all six spark plugs last week on my 90 GXE. Everything was fine. I used a spark plug socket, 5/8"(?forgot), an extension and a ratcket.

TUNE UP

I'm about to change out the spark plugs on my car as well, its been 160K miles with original plugs...a little overdue. Are there any precautions you could give me before I start this job? Should I use a certain spark plug? I was thinking of using Nissan dealership to get the spark plugs. Thanks for any help.

Use NGK plugs they worked nice with my max. They are OEM

A 160,000 miles on original plugs!! Where is your head at!

Anyway with some Denso Iridium plugs http://store.yahoo.com/racinglab/denirsparplu1.html you'll think you have a new motor.

also, http://www.densoiridium.com/default.asp?flash=1

P.S. When did you last change your oil, belts, tranny oil? I'm afraid to hear the answer. ;-)

OLD MAN

thanks for you help....to answer your question, this car has had regular service such as oil changes every 3k miles, the tranny fluid was changed at 100k, and 160k..just last week, and belts changed at 130k. Its been serviced by Nissan dealerships since I bought it new in 94. Just that, Nissan kept telling me that the plugs were fine...I'm just bored and decided that I needed to do it. :-) Thanks for your help..

Might want to check your plug wires, if they are still original they should probably be replaced. I have 140K on my max and the wires had never been changed. I started to get a miss on # 5 because of a crack in my insulation on that wire. I also changed my distributor cap and rotor button. Button was like new and cap wasn't that bad but I figured I might as well do it all at once. Screws on the cap were pretty tough to get off just because they hadn't been broken in 11 years, other than that it was a piece of cake. CS

Steindawg,

Jehmaxima's sig says he has a 93 SE.

Just for reference, the SE doesn't have plug wires or distributor. It has a separate coil over each plug. Very high tech back when.

In my haste to post I tend to ignore the obvious. I didn't even pay attention, sorry guys.

HAHA

thanks guys. I appreciate the help. :-) I went with NGK plugs for the car. Got them from Nissan dealership. I will be tuning it up tomorrow in the hopes that I have no problems removing the plugs, that is if I can find all 6 of them. hehe
