If you dont want to rewire, then try to find another Bose replacement. I might have one tonight, I'm going to check out a wrecked Max that I might buy.

the installer at Cicuit City told me he could make a custom harness for mine for $50. I would just need to make sure the new headunit had RCA jacks on the back. I ended up getting one of those schosche low pass adapters and it works great!

ok...so if I go aftermarket....and get a wire harness....do i just need to bypass the amps next to the speakers and continue to use factory wiring??? or is it alittle more detailed then that?

the factory bose setup is an all or nothing affair basically.
the bose H/u needs the amps at the speakers to work and the amps are designed to work only with the factory 1 ohm speakers.

Not always the case though brian,i have used my front bose amps/speakers with my pioneer HU since 2001,with only one speaker going out in that time..Really,i cant say for sure if the aftermarket hu had anything to do with the speaker failing anyway, since i have had no other issues other then the one speaker in 6 years..

It might just be a pioneer thang

This is what I used. It's wired between the HU and the factory harness. It lowers the ohms of the HU so that it won't blow the Bose amps/speakers (at least that's how I understand it). I originally hooked up my HU without this and if I barley turned up the volume it would get really loud quick. I guess that's how the bose speakers get blown. I think I'm lucky because all my bose speakers still actually work!
