window tint?
#1
I was wanting to tint my max's windows at some point, and I was wondering what kind of prices I could expect, and what would be the best way to get it done. My max is champagne, so I thought that maybe a gold tint would be cool, but is that more expensive?
I would also consider lowering my max, so how does that compare in price to the window tinting?

Yeah, as was said, it all depends on where you are. It also depends on what you want done... The back window, and all the sides, just the back window, the back sides, etc etc. Yes, the colored tinting is probably going to cost you more. You can probably get it done in between 150 and 250 for regular black tint. (250 expensive, but i know people who have had it done for that) The only thing about the Gold or any other colored tinting is that it is not as high quality as the standard black tinting and it it more likely to fade/peel/come off easier. That's the only reason that I didn't get the colored, and I just stuck with a 20% all around tint. My car is the light blue stock (not too happy with it but not getting the $199 paintjob from Meineke) and black trim around the windows, and it still looks damn nice with standard black.

i got my tint done 5% all around including the top 6 inches of the windshield. i also have 35% on the front windshield, but with the 5% glare strip you cant really tell its there. the tint job i have is so illegal though. you might want to check your laws first. i have never gotten a ticket either. Here is a pic of my 90 SE:

i had the whole car done for about $300 including the illegal windshield trick i had explained earlier! you should probably be expected to pay atleast $200. to answer your question on how they apply the material: they wet the window down first, then they slip on the material which is adhesive. they slide it into place and then they squeegie out all the water from underneath the film. i made sure i watched when they installed it on my ride so they didnt screw up. i hope i was of some help.

I did the tint on my '93 myself. Cost me about $50 for the film and tools. BUT, if I had it to do over again, I would only do the door windows myself and pay to have the rear windshield done. The doors were very easy but that back windshield is a major pain because of its shape.
