Last night, around 3:30am or 4am, my roomate decided that it was a good time to go racing. We talked before and decided that we both wanted to race each other. I have the 3.0L V6 SOHC and hes got the 2.0L SOHC engine; both with 5speeds.

First, we line up at this light. It took FOREVER to go green. My roommate took off before we got green. I started to, then stopped. I wasnt sure there wasnt going to be a turning arrow. He takes off, I brake and then take off a second later. He has about a 1/2 car length on me. We stayed that way till about the middle of 3. 3rd gear is my best gear. I pulled pretty hard on him until the redline in 3rd gear. The light ahead was red so we slowed down. Long story short, I kept beating him. I kept playing around with my launch; where to let out the clutch.

We had one final race. We were at a blinking yellow stoplight. He holds his hand out....3....2....1....GO. I got a great launch, the best one all night. I finally let the clutch all the way out at 4,000. I had some wheel hopping, but it was pretty good. Just from the launch I put him bumper to my door handle. I just kept pulling away. By the time I hit 3rd gear, I could see him in my rear view. After Im in 3rd, I know hes got no chance. I know if we would have gotten through all the gears, I know I would have put even more distance between us.

Overall, they were pretty good races. Hes a pretty good driver too. He scratched 2nd every time and a few races he scratched 3rd too. I never once have squeeked em 1-2.

Max vs. Neon

Yeah I reaced my friend in his neon but he beat me I was pretty ****ed off her kept rubbing it in my face. But I also have like 140,000 more miles than he does and I think my car is a little sluggish. He has another neon that would kick alot of carfs asses he put a turbo in it and man you wouldnt believe how fast it is.

Heard Neons have a lot of head gasket problems.. Its like common for them to clunk out after like 70,000 miles.. Lately, I have been seeing more and more riced out Neons..

Chirping tires doesn't equal a good driver. You could go into 3rd, pop the clutch, slam on the gas and let go on a Geo Metro and it might chirp the tires..

Sorry if it looked like I implied he was a good driver because of the chirping tires. I meant to try and point out that I still cannot chirp the tires from 1-2. I think my clutch is on the way out.

Hes into cars, so he knows what he's doing. He wasnt just popping the clutch and mashing the gas pedal. Hes got a '65 Cuda hes rebuilding...360 I think. He also was near empty on his fuel tank, while I had just filled up earlier that day.

His car wieghs about 2500lbs; mine about 3100lbs. The power to weight ratios are very similar.
