Intake outtake

I got me one of them swiss army knife style allen key jobbies. I can't seem to get just the right fit for the bolts on the intake. One size has too much play and the next size up wount fit. My question is are all allen keys the same? Or is there an American kind and a rest a of the world kind like every thing else?

Umm, yes they come in standard and metric. XD Being a Japanese car, you should probably try one of the metric sizes.

5.5 mm is the correct size. 6mm will get stuck in the bolts and 5mm will strip them.

GO buy this and use them with a socket

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91310

You can then correctly torque the bolts when assembling

6mm is what Ive used the 2 years Ive worked on maximas and have only stripped them when I didn't get the hex all they way in, due to dirt or corrosion. I guarantee if you use 5.5mm it'll strip more often then a 6mm.

No,the intake bolts are 6mm,not 5.5mm. You might think they are due to 12+ years of dirt built up inside the bolt head causing the 6mm allen head to not fit in there. Try cleaning the bolt ends out with a small wire brush or similar tool, then the 6mm will fit like a glove.
